Smart to delay post midterms and limit it to autos and steel.

Excluding oil, we have a trade surplus with Canada

Also what is "for years". Trump re-negotiated our trade terms with Canada in 2020.

Does he just get bored or something and need to constantly be looking for some other stupid beef to jump into?

They aren’t thinking about any consequences, they just like trying to “beat” Canada like this is a Hockey game or something and not geopolitics with our ally.

“But they rip us off! That’s not an ally!”

We’re operating under an agreement negotiated by Trump himself

Why? I've been repeatedly assured that tariffs aren't paid by US consumers.

Announcing tariffs on 8/24/2026 that are supposed to take effect on 1/1/2027 shows how unserious Trump actually is about this. This is peak clown world type stuff but you eat it up.

Yep. The only change during the Biden admin was increasing the lumber import tariffs.

It’s just more talk. He will walk them back before they ever go into effect and Canada knows it

Ready to pay a lot more for already expensive cars?

Not a fan of this. Yeah, Canada screws us on dairy and some other things but all this is doing is making that POS Carney stronger at home. He gets to say he is standing up to big bad Americans and comes out ahead.
