More common ground exists between libertarians and conservatives than not. If both diligently attempted to understand the other better, their joint desire in combatting the oppressions of collectivism would better succeed.
True. We share many ideals.

Been hearing this for a long time now, and self driving anything isn't even close to mainstream in most of the country.
Going in a repeated route in silicon valley is one thing. Navigating crappy roads in crappy conditions with who-knows-what other variables is something else entirely

The same cops will be on the street policing, but now they won’t have any rules to follow.
Actually, since a private police force would not operate under the umbrella of qualified immunity that courts have granted LEO, a plaintiff with grievance against a private police force would have more legal recourses than citizens now have against a government police force.

77% of drivers say they will refuse loads to cities with disbanded or defunded police departments.
Does this mean 23% of truck drivers are black?

I wonder if the auto trucks will stop for protestors.

You will always need a driver to deliver “last mile”.
How much less of a force do you think exists to do only this job? 1/3? 1/4?
Hard to say. There is currently a driver shortage. Automation would solve that issue and hopefully weed out the yahoo’s and inexperienced i.e. dangerous, drivers that companies are forced to take due to a lack of options or misguided regulations (CSA scores) by our D.C. overlords. I’m not opposed to automation as long as it’s proven safe.
The most interesting concept I’ve heard is a truck “train” connected wirelessly with a lead driver and a convoy of AI behind. Large drop yards would be located on major interstates outside large cities. The “train” would dock and each trailer would be assigned a local driver to bump docks. Not dissimilar to the container shipping model.

Recognizing that the suppression of free speech under the guise of ending “hate” speech is a form of totalitarianism, first and foremost!

Even when they get AI, there will be people in the trucks for at least 10 years for pure liability reasons.

So they don’t want to be in business anymore?
Posted on 6/12/20 at 11:19 pm to WPBTiger
The pendulum swings both ways. Disband your police departments and act like fricking animals, and hard working people like this will simply tell you to go to hell. The idea that a large segment of society thinks they can be at everyone’s throat with whom they disagree with is ridiculous. Truck drivers alone could bring a city to its knees if they all chose to refuse deliveries.

Trucker's IQ test...
Will you drive into a city where -
1. There are no police?
2. Where, a week or so ago, looters broke into stores and stole everything?
3. Then set fire to the stores?
4. Where checkpoints are manned by masked armed men who support looting?
5. Do you believe rioter/looters would NEVER steal your truck, the load, and all your personal belongings?

There won’t be driverless trucks before there are pilotless planes that transport people/cargo.
We’ve had that tech for years and still won’t do it.

So they took an online poll?
I don’t know David, is that what the fricking link says? Because yes, David, it clearly states:

After reading about their concerns, CDLLife posted a poll on the app.
We asked drivers on the app, “Would you pick up/deliver to cities with defunded or disbanded police departments? Why or why not?”
To date, 77% of drivers say they will refuse loads to cities with disbanded or defunded police departments.

Thats what they said this decade....and the last....and, well you get the picture.
By the way, I bet you are paying taxes now for roads built for truckers, why would you do that when there will be no need for those roads in a decade????? Hmmm. Do you still go to the beach knowing a catastrophe is imminent from climate change???
