this should piss off every single American. A slap in the face, not only to our Founders, but to the American people. We are just mere peasants at the mercy of the government according to Tim Kaine.
The best thing about Kaine is that he's too fricking stupid to realize when he's saying the quiet part of the current Democrat Party mindset out loud.
The best thing about the current Democrat Party is that apparently the are perfectly content to keep letting him do so.
I only hope freedom loving Americans are paying attention.

We are, and we are voting Republican no matter what.

That would make them divine rights, not natural rights. There are no rights in nature.

We dodged such a large bullet in 2016.

Sure I have. If you misunderstood I can clarify. I think my meaning was clear given the context, but I'll start by amending my statement from

There are no rights in nature.

There are no rights produced by nature.
Obviously if divine rights exist they exist "in nature", but nature is not their source.

When people use phrases like “divine rights/law” and “natural rights/law”, they’re almost always referring to a body of classical legal theory stemming from Aquinas.
Just to make sure, are we using these terms and phrases the same way?

The left all believe that, most just don’t say the quiet part out loud.

He must not understand what a theocracy is.
If rights do not come from God, then we have no actual, inalienable rights, and what rights we do have are arbitrary and can be rightfully removed.

He just said what most big government proponents believe. They fail to recognize that there are certain freedoms inherent in every human being. The Magna Carta, Dec of Ind , and Constitution all recognize this. Marxism believes otherwise, that the state owns all of the rights and its citizens /collective only own what the government decides to give.

I’ve long said that the most fundamental difference between the parties, while subtle, is that Democrats believe the Bill of Rights is a grant of rights by the government to the people whereas Republicans believe that they are inherent rights the government cannot infringe upon.

He’s actually making the case for Christian Nationalism, which I’m sure he hates.
Rights are a social construct. Nobody in America has any rights except those that are enforced by our government.
This is why it’s critical that the people running our country have a firm grounding in Christian ethics.

So because someone believes it we can't because we disagree on many other things. Independent thought is dead.

I came to post this very notion - the constitutional rights are there to ensure our 'inalienable rights' that can only come from something higher than the current embodiment of some group of corrupt legislators.
The fact that some other culture has a completely foreign notion of what those rights are is immaterial and makes them suspect for granting any sort of 'citizenship' within our culture - just as they would deny any sort of tolerance - up to and including torture and death to the 'infidel.'
People with that 'inner belief' system (religion) cannot be tolerated to possess any sort of voice in our government. To even tolerate them is a burden.

This is the fundamental divide between right and left.
The left believes fedgov is god and that we all serve that master. We have only the rights they deign to grant us and they are subject to be revoked at any time.
The right believes GOD is the almighty and that each of us have certain inalienable rights granted to us by him and that laws from the government can only limit our actions outside of that fundamental scope.
They think we're serfs.
I disagree.
I've been told that since if I don't pay my property tax, it could be seized by the government, and therefore, I don't actually own it. This is similar to what the liberals are saying. If you rely on government to secure your rights, you don't really have them. I see it as more of realpolitik warning than a worshiping of government.
Plus, you don't have to believe in God to think that we have inalienable Natural Rights.

True, but if you are an atheist, your perception of inalienable rights would have no steady guiding for their morals. It would be a fleeting personal preference.

I guess if you're an atheist, you would know this.
Not being an atheist, I can't comment on their moral guidance.

So humans have no inherent rights until they organize a government and assign said rights to themselves?!?
Does Tim know what unalienable means? Is he retarded?

This POS calls himself a Catholic but everything he does and says is in direct conflict with the Catholic faith. frick him and all the fake-Catholic politicians, they’re enemies of the Church.

This is the kind of stuff that tells me why we need a Constitution with teeth after the revolution. Anyone who openly espouses ideas and principles in direct opposition of the founding documents of this country should be immediately removed from office, and no longer be able to hold any office, federal, state, or municipal.
