Different world than the 1980s. Never would have thought about randomly destroying items at a grocery store......because of the embarrassment it would cause my parents (or shite, even any neighbors or friends that happened to be with us if we were picking up snacks before weekend football games).

It really reminds me of an experience I had in my last day in China. I was in the middle of a huge outdoor shopping mall and walking in front of me was a father, mother, and a toddler. The toddler is crying and the father has had enough of that and kicks the kid right to the floor. His wife then starts crying hysterically and he then smacks her in the face, only to kick the kid again when he’s on the ground (hard enough where I think he may have cracked some ribs), and then pulls his son up by his hair and then pushes both his wife and son forward as they bawl their eyes out.
So what did the hundred or so Chinese people around do upon seeing seeing this: they noticed it for maybe half a second stopping cold in their tracks and then kept walking as if it wasn’t happening. If that had happened in America in 2012, there would have been ten guys there instantly to beat the life out of the father.
There were three other Westerners in that mall and we all locked eyes with one another clearly horrified by what we just saw. But we also knew something else: if we went to confront this man, then the Chinese people would take notice and gang up on us, even if they knew we were in the right. We are the outsiders and thus the enemy of them, including that wife beating scumbag.
I then notice two security officers and go up to them and say that they need to take that man into custody. Their response: What a man does with his family is his own business.
That video above wouldn’t have happened ten years ago because someone would have directly in the very least confronted the parents. But fascism encourages a bit of chaos to keep everyone in line to not frick directly with the state, and we’ve been in this state for the past five years. I’m no longer sure if you did this in your average American mall these days that you’d get your face stomped in for it, and that’s sad.

It’s been my experience that children like this likely come from a fatherless home and as a result of that abandonment they grow up to be mad like a hornet all the time.
Fatherless homes are the biggest plague in communities of color. But sadly, the leaders only want to continue to cry racism is what sets them back.

Pretty sad that so many people think it's ok to go doing this in stores.
