It really doesn’t matter. Behavior like that is unacceptable no matter the child’s mental condition. The destruction of property and general disruptive, violent behavior means an adult should intervene to stop it. A bear hug isn’t violent and will not harm the child.

If this kid does have a mental disorder, the parent is then negligent and responsible for the kid’s behavior full stop. If not? The parent is still responsible.

Spoken like someone who has never had to deal with a child that has a disability. I’ve had to bear hug my son more times than I care to count, pinned up against the wall once to keep him from hurting himself, his sister and destroying/overturning everything he could get his hands on. Never ever had to do it in public thankfully, but it was an extremely violent and traumatic experience for everyone.

No doubt the parent is still responsible and don’t misunderstand, I’m not excusing the behavior or saying it’s acceptable. It’s not and is most likely the result of awful parenting.

If my son ever started to act up in public I would look at him and say,

"You're older brother did that once."

He would say, " But I don't have an older brother."

"Exactly. "

So we agree that any child, disabled or not, should be physically restrained when they get out of control.

If the parent isn’t around, someone has to do it.

I’m sorry you think that me not having a special needs kid disqualifies me from having an opinion on stopping a kid from destroying a store.

It’s fine to have an opinion, I just get really tired of the internet hardass parents saying beating a kid’s arse is the blanket answer to resolving a problem. You won’t find a bigger proponent of a good old fashioned arse whippin’ and I highly suspect that would do this particular kid wonders, but it’s just not the answer to every problem with kids

Lucky for you I said nothing of the sort unless you have a habit of putting words in other people’s mouths.

You didn't, but plenty of others did. I should/could have quoted others. Sorry.

You keep deflecting. Just pick topic and support it. Everyone here knows that every one of your posts is basically lunacy.

You’re claiming I can’t make a cogent point. I ask you What you referring to and you tell me to give you an example? Of what?

Speaking of being unable to make a cogent point…
