Do you know the exact death total worldwide and in the U.S.?
You might be surprised to learn that we know the exact numbers for almost nothing in this world. You might also be surprised to learn that we don't need exact numbers in order to produce estimates.

You also seem to be under the mistaken impression that an estimate is simply a "guess" at best or an outright falsehood at worst.

All that said, the death figures we have for the US are probably very accurate. The same goes for the numbers out of Europe. I know a lot of you crazies think they're just tossing bodies out and checking off the covid column, but that just isn't happening. Right wing media must be going wild about misconstruing the Birx statement.

As for the number of infected, that is obviously the wild card here, and that is the reason I mentioned the diamond princess and the study out of Germany. These "hot zones" seem to tend to burn out after about 15% of the population has been infected.

If we look at a place like NYC, we can plug in that number and see if it makes sense with what we know. The NYC area currently stands at about 98k positive tests and 6200 deaths. Obviously not all cases have been caught, so obviously the fatality rate is nowhere near the 6% those numbers would indicate. But, if we use the 15% infection figures that we have now seen in more than one study, the NYC area might be approaching something like 1.2million infections, or roughly 12 cases for every 1 positive test. That sounds absolutely reasonable, don't you think? Going with that number, the 6200 deaths / 1.2million cases gives a fatality rate of about 0.5%.

This number is based on multiple studies and a lot of data. It is in no way a lie. And you absolutely cannot call it "false" without making absolutely wild assumptions.

Lmfao again completely spinning a phrase to assume a different meaning. Not even gonna get into all the projection and hypocrisy in your insults. This is just what people like you do I guess. It is truly pathetic that you can’t even have a civil discussion, it says everything about you.

Korkstand: says don’t believe news then says believe the news if medical data doesn’t parrot the news he listens to.

Lmfao you can’t make this shite up. Keep progfilth talking long enough and they will refute their own talking points. It’s a guarantee.

It was never about the virus... we've had good data since February to have an easy path on the virus.

This is now about your government being all-in, you think they are going to tell you the truth?

Thwy are just conditioning us to being welcomed to giving up out rights. It's for a virus now, pretty sooner if will just be for the "benefit to society."

It's all happening because TRUMP is President and it's an election year.

They were going to find a weakness at some point. It’s crazy because there is no way he gets re-elected after this. Sure his base is loyal, but the swing vote is too easily swayed.

Weird how we have the exact consequences of a General Strike happening to the US economy BUT the workers have not gone on General Strike.

Coincidence?

Once the currently working folks realize that they could be making $20+ an hour to drink beer at home....the mood will change.

There are still those who consume the msm daily who don’t realize that the extra $600/week is in effect. Talked to a parent yesterday (who bought into this quarantine nonsense) who had no idea how much people are making on unemployment.

Edit to add....op is right...end game was to cause chaos and implement vote by mail/online.

Swine flu was about 5 times LESS deadly than the flu. Covid is about 5 times MORE deadly than the flu. Which, if you remember grade school math, means Covid is 25 times MORE deadly than swine flu.

If you remember, scientists were saying that Swine Flu had a CFR between 5-2% and it was novel like coronavirus so it had a high infection rate. We didn't have a vaccine and it was Tamiflu resistant. Congress even had the CDC create a Pandemic Mitigation Plan which we are using today in reaction to it. It took about 8 months for them to create a vaccine. Obama was one of the first to get it, in order to show people it was safe. In some cities that had early out breaks in Mexico, they had social distancing for a few weeks. There was also a town in Georgia and another in Texas that had a few weeks of social distancing. Some hospitals neared capacity. Schools in the BR area had 70% absence rates when it hit here. It never got as bad as Covid is in Italy, Spain, or New York, but there was a time when some scientists thought it was going to get that bad.

The data showing it wasn't as bad as they thought didn't come out until years after.

Based on the data about asymptomatic cases and very mild cases that don't get tested, it wouldn't surprise me that in a couple years they will figure out that the covid mortality rate is .1% to .3%. Instead of the 1% to 3% that is scaring the hell out of people today.
