No, I think the very folks that were going to see it are now actively boycotting it. There’s no way it will make back its budget.

I don’t believe that rumor has been confirmed.

Ooo that’s actually a good call, quietly a very solid Ridley Scott flick.

Love the Ed Norton nugget, forgotten that too. Liam Neeson was also excellent (although short lived) in that film.

Respect you actually putting a flag in the ground.

Give me a number? (BO revenue $)

ETA: I’m assuming by budget you mean break even (650) not actual budget (250). There’s no chance it won’t hit 250, it’ll probably do that in short order.

Do you think it’ll lose money? Break even is about 650m.

I’ve asked multiple posters to actually call their shot and they’re all predictably terrified of embarrassing themselves on an anonymous message board ?, it’s pathetic.

I’ll even go first. I’ll guess $900m ish (Oppenheimer did about 950, for reference), which would be a profit of about $1/4b

Nolan's name will carry it at least to break even. I will not take any bet on total gross. Overseas markets would kill me. I do not think it will come close to Oppenheimer. Just the script he went with is rumored to be shite.

In tUSA though, somewhere between 250M - 300M.

Still higher than many would say.

Read the thread, dummy

Them: it’s too woke and will bomb
Me: oh so you’re saying it won’t make money?
Them: *crickets*

What’s the point of even saying it if you don’t actually believe it?

You're crazy if you think that's going to happen

Wow.

If she man is Achilles, then I just don’t see it. We will see though.

Oppenheimer did 330 domestic (according to Gemini) so that’s probably a reasonable guess.

I’m not listening to any of the commentary at this point, it’s all rumor/hype. I don’t think anyone really knows anything yet.

I also have a lot of faith in CN in general. Even Tenet, widely considered his worst flick, had its moments IMO.

Globally, who knows?

I’ll say that it breaks even.

In the U.S. - 125-150 million.

Ok, maybe.

But answer the question nonetheless.

You do understand that even the mythical Spielberg is not immune to box office flops (Hook, 1941), right?

In this movie, Achilles should only be in a short scene in the underworld since he is already dead. Not really a make or break moment.

Most of us who care, are GenX and Boomers. Most of us quit caring about new movies a long time ago. Young'uns though, they will watch it.

I honestly don’t think it will. And yes, I mean the entire budget of 650. It will not achieve that in theaters. Now keep in mind the scheduling of films in July. Evil Dead Burn will be on its second week as well as Moana. But for two weeks after Odyssey will be basically the only new film to see until Spider-Man at the end of July. The point is, Hollywood is trying their damndest to give the impression that this slop will be mighty of its budget. They have gamed it so. The only major film for two weeks in the summer? Ridiculous shoveling of their narrative. For that reason, it will likely eclipse the 250 but certainly will not exceed 650 for its actual budget. Hollywood novices will thump their chest and say “see, it made its budget back” while not understanding the absurd spending spree on advertising they had to shell out to get any presence at all.

frick this film.

Because recreating a nuclear test explosion is so comparable to ignoring written accounts of Helen? Oh, and her sister wasn’t an identical twin, otherwise they both would have the same face to launch 1000 ships… There are so many pointless own goal errors. It’s ridiculous.

Whatever you think of the movie, it's going to make a lot of money. It may be woke, but I doubt anyone is going broke over this.

There’s so many translations out there yet he had to pick the one that was written by a feminist. Makes no sense to me at all.

You must have missed Tenet? Everybody else did proving that Nolan can make flops. As usual your argument is poor.
