Nolan didn’t bend the knee to Hollywood. He bent the knee to his wife.
I think it has more to do with the fact that he based this adaptation on a translation that was written by a literal progressive feminist

It's Christopher Nolan It will sell
Opening weekends don't mean a movie will be a success, but they can mean a movie is a failure.
It will open decent no matter what because it's Nolan, but the successive weekends will tell the real story.

The problem is that to be considered for Best Picture at the Oscar, a film must now have an LGBT or minority in a leading role.

So I guess its okay for Chris Pratt to play MLK Jr. in a fictional re-telling of the philanderer who rose to prominence via the CIA ...
Or would that be out of bounds?

It depends Power... on whether it is any good.
We just think it's stupid to portray Hellen (who had Alabaster-like skin) as a black person... for no reason.
Or have Ellen (or Elliot) Page as a male in this movie... I suspect, for me, it will possibly remind me of how great she was in Inception, the height of Nolan filmography.

How could you tell? Emily Wilson - author of the translation Nolan based his work on...
That looks like Dr. Melfi’s methed up twin brother.

The budget was like $250m and the "break even" figure (after marketing, etc.) is somwhere in the $650m range.
Are you saying this movie will lose money (less than the 650m figure)? I'll take that bet all day.
Oppenheimer did about $1b for reference, I'm guessing Odyssey will do similar numbers (maybe slightly less).

I think it will struggle to hit $125 million the opening weekend ...
The economy isn't great and streaming is devouring the box office/theater experience ...

They want to rewrite history to their version.
Some are under the impression that if you rewrite history then you will change your future. Good luck with that.

Define, won't sell. Like in terms of revenue? Awards? Be specific.
These kinds of threads are subjective jibberish if you're unwilling to stand by some kind of actual metric.
I'd caution you to bet against Nolan right now, but you do you.

Most of them are going to end up seeing at some point too.
I dunno about how many awards it'll win (so subjective and depends a lot on what it's up against) but it will ABSOLUTLEY sell in the box office.

But a majority of woke dumb fricks are freaked out whenever a white person gets cast in anything.

I think it's almost guaranteed that the domestic US market is lower than expected given all the bad press around castings and trailers. This type of film will probably kill it in Asia though.
We'll see if the movie is better than the trailers.

Nolan (and Hollywood in general) are in the business of taking money from everyone, international audiences included. If it makes a lot money, it makes a lot of money, full stop.
Also, put an actual number on your prediction. US, intl, both, something objective. Be bold!

The best part is a black man is playing Poseidon, God of the Sea. Doesn't Nolan know black people don't know how to swim?

Nolan bent the knee after Oppenheimer got so much praise while being almost exclusively white.
I want to know his thoughts about going with a completely inaccurate and laughably incorrect explosion in the nuclear test scene when so much camera footage was available for it. You cannot recreate a nuclear explosion with conventional explosives and pyro.
Also missed his chance to portray Truman walking back in to the Potsdam Conference after hearing of the successful test and dragging his nuts across the table in front of the Soviets. Not just casually informing them.
