Capitalism is basically religion in China. Anyone who suggests that China is "communist" should probably sit this one out lol.

Damned near textbook definition of fascism.

China does not have a communist government.

It’s a single party corporatist/fascist ruling government.
People can own private property in China.
If you have the $$ to do so. Although they are authoritarian.

Besides North Korea I don’t know of any communist governments in the world.

It ain't capitalism, dope.

It is called fascism and your people are all about it.

NB4 someone says it is some other form of authoritarianism a la statism.

They are the same. All are leftists that build walls to keep you in with no personal liberties unless you are in the elite.

Probably the best example of true Marxist socialism is a moden day Kibbitz in Isreal. They are even agriculture based, as Marx wrote about.

Please give me a reason to care about another country's form of governance.

Would be weird if that was happening here or something crazy like that.

Yet posters like SFP, Owlfan, Cubbies, and Powerman will claim they know how to do it right this time.

I have never seen any of those posters advocate for communism. Being critical of crony capitalism is not synonymous with advocating for a communist economic system.

Eh, N. Korea wishes it was Communist. It's more like a true absolute basketcase run by a family of rapacious thugs. Doubt if the last 2 Kim's know anything about Marx or Engels and wouldn't be surprised if they are reading Machiavelli .

That’s partially correct. Vietnam economic system is very capitalistic. But majority of businesses are sole proprietorships with few regulations. I’ve been back 6 times and I’m amazed how many entrepreneurs of all ages are there. The neighborhood I was staying 8/10 house were running some kind of business…coffee shops, local convenient store, produce stand, hair washing place, delivery business, 2 food shops, a printing office. Gov doesn’t do social assistance so you have to do something.

Can the PRC even be considered Communist at this point? (An honest question that’ll probably be downvoted for some reason). It seems like it’s moved to a fascist conception of harnessing private or semiprivate enterprise to magnify state power.

That’s well put!

Santayana said those that don’t remember the past are destined to repeat it.

As there is a rise in communism on your side of the aisle (Platner, Piker, Mamdani, Karen Cuba Bass, Katie Wilson, etc) it is worth mentioning.

Will you even be allowed to wear your gimp suit in public if we become communist?

Right, I think they subsidize some things to get manufacturing into their country but that does read like some of the stories I’ve heard.

Why is a communist country like China outperforming us right now?

Hmmm

The same reason that MAGA rightist populists support tariffs when the negative consequences of them always outweigh the positives with a few rare exceptions and contexts.

Populism. That's the short answer.
