This is our unique Idenity.

quote:

``You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Turkey or Japan, but you cannot become a German, a Turk, or a Japanese. But anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American.”

Libertinism is no way to sustain a country or culture.

And neither is asceticism or puritanism. All I’m saying in this thread is all in all this is still a good place to live, and I believe will stay that way if people get involved in their communities and work together to solve problems.

Do you think conservatives are disagreeing with that quote?

I’m not.

There’s a key phrase there “become an American.”

Maybe we've never been a country. Jackie knew a thing or two.

Not illegally, they didn't. I'd be ok if the USSC had simply made a distinction between legal, even if birth tourism, and illegal. I don't want either but the ruling means anyone inside the border irrespective to how they arrived. It's truly illogical and will encourage more illegals to border jump.

"We want to remove this criminal alien."

Courts: "No. He has a right to stay here."

"We want to prohibit the children of these criminal aliens from claiming citizenship by mere coincidence of birth."

Courts: "No. If they get here, it is the same thing as winning the lottery."

"We want to secure the border and allow in only folks we have explicitly authorized. You know? Like every other sovereign nation does."

Courts: "No. We're going with suicidal empathy. Have a nice day."

It's OK to admit you are wrong.

quote:

The 14th Amendment, ratified in 1868, is a cornerstone of the U.S. Constitution. It established birthright citizenship, ensuring that all persons born or naturalized in the U.S. are citizens. It also guarantees all Americans equal protection under the law and prohibits states from depriving anyone of life, liberty, or property without due process. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Often called the "Second Founding," the amendment was created during Reconstruction to protect the rights of formerly enslaved people. Today, it is one of the most litigated parts of the Constitution

But I’m not wrong.

It’s ok to admit you were sloppy in wording it or that you didn’t know what the frick you were talking about. Either one.

Which cost a lot more than it does today, took a lot longer, and there wasn't any birthright tourism.

You're being purposely dense. Stop bring an idiot and confront the issue. Playing dumb will only make the potential blowback worse.

there was not really a thing of illegal immigrant in the 1860s. Beyond just slavery, The 14th was trying to slove the issue of what to do with all the children of the cheap labor that we were willfully taking in

Chinese CCP members who have never set foot in the U.S. are now giving birth to "American" citizens.

Wait what? This makes no sense

The Chinese parents don't always do the birthing. Some send their seed to the US for implantation in surrogates who give birth to their American babies.

From the WSJ last year:
quote:

The market has grown so sophisticated, experts say, that at times Chinese parents have had U.S.-born children without stepping foot in the country. A thriving mini-industry of American surrogacy agencies, law firms, clinics, delivery agencies and nanny services—even to pick up the newborns from hospitals—has risen to accommodate the demand, permitting parents to ship their genetic material abroad and get a baby delivered back, at a cost of up to $200,000 per child.

Bzzzt.

I said "Birthright citizenship has been in place since the 14th amendment " which is a fact. I then cited it twice.

You responded "bzzt it isn't" now your saying I worded it wrong.
But I'll repeat. The 14th amendment allowed for birthright citizenship. End of point.

Your wrong I'm right. It's ok to admit when you're wrong.
