Everything around COVID is making it worse than it actually is.

We desperately need life to return to normal.

There is no reprieve because there’s no escape.

You can’t travel anywhere because it’s “wear a mask” or there are shutdowns.

There’s no sports for a distraction.

Theresa nothing but you and your thoughts. Life has to go on and we have to open up or the healthcare workers we are going to break.
That was the point of my OP.

Look Op, I work in the medical field. Psychiatry so it’s not the same as you but I’m seeing the effects on people too. It stresses me out. I just don’t feel I can freely and openly complain about it because again, I chose this field.

My county just lost its 4th death, out of 130,000 people. They have started using probable cases to spike our numbers and we are at 160ish of the probable/positive cases. Knox county and Sevier county touch us giving the tricounty area 700,000-800,000 percent in a metro, tourist, and industrial populations as a great cross section of the state. In that grouping we have lost 20ish people since this mess began.

What do you during flu breakouts every year? Just wondering. I was at the hospital for a meeting last week. Ochsner in BR. 15 people waiting in the lobby to take my temp. Didn’t seem busy at all.

You could quit and become a teacher? They ain’t doing shite.

Thanks for what you do. You having old parents and fretting about it is like 70% of Everyone else too. My moms had heart issues including open heart surgery at 50. Welcome to life

It’s unfortunate we don’t have enough capable/rational healthcare workers willing to step forward and educate the American public about COVID-19 over the BS it’s bombarded with by the media, politicians, unions and Corona-favored businesses so everybody’s COVID-nightmare can end, and you and everybody else can get back to the “old normal.”

I haven't missed a day of work, interact with alot of people everyday. My mom is 80 and I see and hug her evryday at her request.

IF your parents happen to contract the rona and Valhalla forbid, they pass and you haven't seen or hugged them in 4 months, It'll haunt you.

My brotherinlaw lost his mom (dementia), she was in retirement home. He lost the last 3 months of her life because of restrictions.

I aint gonna hate on you for doing what you think is best for you and yours.

It’s ok for you to complain.
You’re not super-human.
Venting doesn’t mean you aren’t going to do your job; it’s just a way to let off some steam.

I, for one, am more than willing to listen to anyone who needs to decompress.
Again, I’m immensely grateful for all you do—even if you DID choose your field.

Tiguar I’ve enjoyed your posts here and learning and seeing how you’re doing. This one makes me sad.

God bless and stay safe. Talk to your parents as often as you can — I know it’s not the same as a hug but it’s something.

Hang in there.

FWIW the covid unit at our nursing home was full — we had six nurses that rotated through there. They did everything from dietary work to can work to housekeeping

Of those six nurses, only 1 contracted the virus and the others never tested positive for antibodies. So that’s hopeful maybe?

Try owning a small business as your primary source of income only to have an inept politician label your business as "non-essential" while at the same time leaving all your large corporate competitors open to create record sales months. While I empathize with your plight, people at least recognize and acknowledge your contribution and sacrifice. No one says shite to us.

Everyone needs a little R&R eventually. See if your hospital has a professional you can chat with. Or, find a mountain to hike or a river to kayak.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you're well on your way to developing some nasty, life long, PTSD. I'm sorry this ordeal has been brought to your doorstep. Thank you, and everyone working around this Wuhan virus for your sacrifice. Perhaps call the governor of whatever red state you're in and ask them to require masks? Masks work. At least they are for us in Albuquerque. Even being sandwiched between two of the dirtiest Wu Flu states (TX and AX).

Thank you again. All y'all medical pros.
