re: Trump asks Biden to debate ASAP in NYC as that is where Biden placed him

I wish he called him out old west style, sundown outside McSorley’s pub...
re: Was Uncle Joe raised a poor black child?

Would love to see someone do a YouTube documentary on Corn Pop. They could interview the former workers/ patrons of the pool. Then they can find the kids who used to rub his legs to feel his white person hair.
Then the sequel; Joe on Robin Island with Mandela....
re: Twenty Six barges broke loose on the Ohio River tonight
I know we’re a really big country, and accidents happen all the time, but lately this stuff has made my tin foil hat tingle.
I think it just gets more media coverage now. Barges used to break away on the Mississippi a lot especially during high water. A lot of times some tug boa...
re: Cargo ship revs up engines and steers into Bridge support

I’m not being hyperbolic, the owners of the ship get their money, then another company manages the ship and receives less money taking into account fuel costs, berthing charges, maintenance and crewing costs. The management company is operating on tight margins at times.
I mean, it's not only replacing the likely billion dollar+ bridge but also the billions of dollars economic cost of it being out of service for decades.
Just to give some perspective and I’m not justifying any action but there are a couple of issues with invoking fees based on the ...
It had two tugs with it until it got to the channel. Would going a couple miles further (I have no idea what the actual distance is) add that much to the bill?
Probably not, but shippers are trying to save a penny whenever they can. Plus, if you asses the risk there are probably ...
I’m more worried about the maintenance log, and why it didn’t have a tug escort. I know it’s not uncommon to have a tug escort, but I bet they start mandating it now.
I’m guessing the reason they stopped having tugs escort the ship through the bridge is cost. It would add $5-10k f...

I think it may have been an issue of the engineers maybe getting the engine back online if you are referring to the smoke stack. The emergency generator kicking on won’t give as much smoke but you’ll see some electrical systems lighting off....
re: likely hood of container ship sabotage has to be pretty high
Posted by SeaBass23 on 3/26/24 at 4:06 pm
The ship apparently lost propulsion. Does a container ship have electric propulsion? I have seen both electric and engine driven propulsion on the ships I have been on, but those were Gulf service boats.
No, this was a diesel engine. They have failures sometimes and more so since...
re: Do teens drink alcohol more now compared to the 80s and 90s?
Posted by SeaBass23 on 3/23/24 at 5:22 pm
There are too many ways to get in trouble drinking now. Everyone has a camera in their pocket and social media can broadcast your drinking to the world.
Athletes can get banned from sports if they are caught drinking anytime during the school year. Parents can go to jail if they host parties as we...
re: What’s with all the Navy COs getting relieved?

This has been going on for a long time. We used to joke when the Navy Times was delivered that it was time to see which COs were relieved. ...

Find a physical outlet. Martial arts, lifting, triathlon, skeet shooting, etc. find something that gets you moving that you can work to improve on. It will probably also help you with your .,.’a-hole” coworkers. ...
re: When was last time you answered a phone call on a home landline? When did you phase out?
Posted by SeaBass23 on 3/10/24 at 8:07 am
Moved into a new house in 07-08. We got a landline and it turned out to be an old fax machine’s phone number, we ended up getting fax calls at all hours of the night. Canceled after 2 days never had one since....

re: Crazy play at second last night
Posted by SeaBass23 on 3/7/24 at 12:03 pm
The pbp guy sounded like a high schooler getting his first gig. The color guy seemed confused half the time. But, I am grateful that there was a way to watch a mid week non conference game and I can put up with some bad announcers....

I going to go with Guidry, seems like a wiry fighter. If I was going to try to avoid getting in a fight, I’d hang out with Travinsky and Jones....

A couple of years ago my 10 year old brought the used bullet casing from the bullet he used to shoot his first deer with him to school. Luckily the teacher was reasonable and held it for h...
