You’re allowed to give your money to whoever you choose, that has nothing to do with “maturity in decision making”.

Really!!
That must explain why the head Rabbi in Rome converted to Catholicism after the war.
Bless your heart

The Pope is taking the high road. Good on him. He doesn't want to alienate a large part of Catholics over politics. The Church needs parishioners to donate, alienating a large part of them would be a bad play.
I’d argue he’s worked really hard at alienating a large portion of Catholics with his comments the last 2 weeks on immigration and global warming.

This anti-Catholic trope, again.
This is no better than leftists and Democrats calling Trump Hitler and his supporters Nazis.
Are you a leftist and a Democrat?

Guntotler provided the military reference saying that we should question the general. I suggested he was a noncom private thinking he knows better.

Jesus said he came to divide
The Pope steps on it last week, and now wants to play the “neutral” position
As a Catholic, I don’t feel good trashing the Pope. But he has shown his colors the past week. I will keep praying for him to change his heart or possibly resign early like Benedict so someone more courageous and true to the Church can step in. The RCC really needs better leadership.
Not a great start, but wandering in the wilderness with the last 2 popes may be a blessing we do not see. The young priest are much more conservative. The boomers in the church in general have been very bad. Not all, but a lot. We have survived much worse popes and the church carries on.

Doesn't this blow a hole in the doctrine of papal infallibility?

Papal infallibility is a very narrow doctrine and has only been used a few times. It has nothing to do with the Pope speaking on daily topics of political interest I do think Leo squashed the Durbin award behind the scenes he has been much more accommodating to traditional Catholics than Frances and the Church is slowly becoming more conservative as the libs age out. Cupich is 76 and will be replaced soon

Why would the Pope comment on politics anyway

I can not argue with this…
Francis changes the catechism and now we can not even appeal to tradition and the never changing teaching of the church because he has destroyed 2000 years of blood sweat and tears. The church withstood the Roman’s, the Mongols, the Huns, the Muslims and even the Reformation and now we get a pope who dismantled it all with one stroke of his pen. I know Francis is dead now but the damage is done.

Conciliarism was condemned in the 16th century and now you guys have papal inafillibility so....

This is such a cop out argument. Why is the Pope speaking about anything unless he is speaking ex cathedra?
ETA: As a protestant, isn't the point of the Pope that he is the end-all be-all of Christian doctrine? Shouldn't any proclamations from him being religious in nature and thus binding? Keys of St. Peter and all.

I wonder why he keeps opening his pie hole about it then.
