America considers leaving Europe to defend herself. It works both ways.
Is China defending Europe in order to get this treatment?

IDK how this will impact Tesla because they have a plant in the EU zone, Berlin.
It's not a comment directly on tariffs of Tesla, more giving China access to the EU to undercut brands like Tesla.
There's a reason Elon created the term "Peter Retardo" recently.
This tariff policy has caused a lot of the SV guys who joined Trump in 2024 to openly criticize the strategy/chaos.

Oh well.
More free trade for Europe. Elon will just have to deal with it.

Gumbo, this is exactly what some of us have been warning about. Many posters think our demand is irreplaceable. The tariffs have given China every reason to now go to the world and sell their products in an attempt to gain market share and lessen the impact of losing some exports to us. I say some because we will still buy from them. Their pricing kills us. We simply aren’t competitive in the overall scheme of things. If they make tempting enough offers they can do some real damage and cut us out of markets in a worst case scenario. That’s the risk in this very high stakes trade war.

How is it dangerous for us if we couldn’t already sell our cars in Europe or China??
And China doesn’t have a market here for their cars anyways

We were always going to have to consume less. That was settled a long time ago when we started using debt for consumption and letting the govt allocate more and more of our resources. People seem to think that all that past accumulation of debt is water under the bridge. Debt doesn't work that way, it builds up behind a dam until the dam breaks.

I don’t even know why they tariff our cars. Ever seen the narrow roads in most European countries and gas prices of 4-5 dollars per litre? You’re not going to get a significant number of Europeans to buy F-150s and Chevy Tahoes
Even our passenger sedans and crossover SUVs are large and not very fuel efficient compared to compact European cars

It sucks for Europe. Let them burn. Let them destroy themselves. But I have friends in Europe (AfD) and I am really sad for them. AfD was to little to late to save them from the devil worshippers that run Europe.
Destroyed from within. I hope it is not to late. Sometime you just have to let go and let them hit rock bottom in the hopes that they can turn it around for their children and grandchildren.

But yet Americans have given blood and treasure in saving their countries all the while being tariffed on goods. Hope they enjoy their freedom of association with China

I got this from google. Anyway this Tariff shite has gotten way too much attention. Its one big flame that the MSM is using to try and derail Trump for the 500th time.

Our consumption is one thing. Losing trading partners entirely is another or to a lesser scale losing market share but retaining trading partners. Everything is being renegotiated. That’s where the world finds itself right now. If countries are driven to make decisions based on pricing we’re going to find that environment challenging due to a variety of factors that China doesn’t have to contend with. The same is true with India and many others. Our biggest advantage is a large consumer market. But the world is far bigger. That’s a problem. That’s also why the rollout of the tariffs was a clusterfrick from the beginning. It should’ve been done in a more targeted approach. Lock nations in slowly and tighten the noose on China. It also would’ve given us time to build up domestic manufacturing. But we didn’t do that. Now it’s a free-for-all where money may be the deciding factor and where alliances are weakened and trust is frayed. I want us to win. But I know we made it harder than it should’ve been and introduced a lot of risk in an already difficult period.

Worth it to not have to listen to Europe talk about the immorality of Russia as they choose China as their partner

Europe Considers Lifting Tariffs On Chinese Cars In Favor Of Fixed Minimum Prices
China supports Russia, which of course invaded their darling Ukraine, yet they still pay billions to Russia for natural gas, and are now wanting to open the trade door a little wider for China while shutting out the country, the US, what has propped up their darling Ukraine for years, not to mention propping up all of their economies since the end of WWII.
I love this. Same with Greenland. They can't help but destroy themselves. They have destroyed themselves from within by their welfare government policies (thanks to the US), have opened their borders to the destructive rabble of the 3rd world, and now want to invite in the largest socialist country that destroyed the US manufacturing base (thank you Bill Clinton) and which will destroy more of theirs (China will ask for more concessions than just electric vehicles) in order that they can thumb their nose at the US, Trump, and Elon Musk.
Europe will lose this game. Frankly, they have already lost it, but they are ignorant of it.

China doesn't have to do any R&D. They require all companies manufacturing products within their borders to turn over all proprietary manufacturing techniques and share all their patents with the CCP. All China does is provide the labor and materials. Essentially, China is sitting at the poker table raking in the winnings from most of the pots without ever making the first ante.

I agree, Elon would rather be able to sell his cars in Europe, but I doubt he joins other globalist business leaders and sues Trump over it!

Yup. The money they save by the US contributions to the military defense amd unfair tariffs/trade practices subsidizes their welfare programs. We should pull out of NATO leave Europe on their own. Let the Chinese handle their defense, see how that works out for them.
