My sister's BIL is the head of security at my daughter's school.

I have zero doubt in my mind he would be in that school immediately.

I would be willing to lose my life for 19 kids lives. I would hope any grown man on this board would do the same for my kids

Yeah and I doubt they would be concerned with some clerical protocol from your employee handbook

How are they changing their story? Maybe I've missed it.

Ive only seen them add to the story to help build a better timeline.

If the first timeline has a one hour gap, and then later that day they start filling in that hour gap with more details, that's not changing their story.

Yes I agree that they might need to wait until they release the final verdict. People on both sides ate fillimg in holes with assumptions and that's not what you want.

Is that protocol? frick clearing active scenes anymore. 1 is the norm so we will always stop there. If there's 2, oh well.

What a stupid comment man.

So what if there is 2? You know what there won't be? 8

You can't use some stupid protocol as if it's a foreign war situation when you know in almost all cases it's 1 and sometimes rarely it's 2

They are now saying that no one confronted the shooter before he got in the school. It was previously released that the security guy confronted him

Are they heavily financed, though?

Thought I’d seen in one of the threads about this that they have a large budget in proportion to their size… maybe I’m incorrect.

Either way, they seem to have more resources than most small towns, having a swat team. But, we see how that went…

Who released that? Media? Or was it LE? Honest question. If media was the one releasing that, that's not LE changing their story, that's the media outlet jumping the gun to get a story out

LE might have released that though. I haven't seen that. I'll have to go check to get up to date.

The problem with what you're saying is in almost all of these cases there is only one shooter. Columbine is an exception with 2 shooters. Don't pretend that this is some seal team type of event.

That's not knowledge you typically have the benefit of knowing as things are unfolding.

Right so just assume there are 12 shooters and we need to act like we're in a foreign war. GTFO with this nonsense

Powerbottom is the bravest person ever. You have to know your audience. He would have taken care of business.

He described for the most part standard room clearing, which is what you do when the objective is to clear a room, or you string enough of them together to clear a building with follow-on support.

IF (and I don't know the details) there were actively shots being fired in an elementary school then hopefully the objective is no longer "clear this building by the book", it's "stop the shooter ASAP". If children being shot isn't an exigent circumstance, which is typically a reason to deviate from protocol, then exigent circumstances don't exist.
Provided you know where the shooter is, yes. Or if there is only one shooter. Or if you had more than one team in the structure.

You're not wrong, but typically you don't have the benefit of that knowledge. Call it fog of war or whatever.

Still, if the shooter says "I'm in room 2112" I wouldn't fault a team for still following a dynamic method because...you know...people lie. And they move sometimes.

You're trying to apply your training from the Marines to a completely different situation. You've got an 18 year old kid with probably minimal skill with a weapon gunning down elementary school kids that are completely defenselessness. Immediate intervention by people trained to use weapons is most likely what offers the best outcome.
