Heady move going to the passenger side to shoot so his family wouldn't be in the line of fire.

What is that saying about playing stupid games again?

It's my understanding that in Texas you can use deadly force to stop a property crime.

Is this correct?

EDIT: I looked it up and I'm not sure that guy is going to get off. You can use deadly force to prevent a property crime, but there are restrictions and I'm not sure this case qualifies based on the restrictions.

I don't think the guy can claim imminent danger. His entire family had exited the vehicle by the time he shot the guy and he knew it.

I counted 7 people including the gunman.

This is really weird as the black guy clearly has a gun while Jose just walks up and starts getting in the car. Why would he do this as the driver has a gun? I wonder what happened before that.

The guy may have still intended to run over every one of his family members. Good shoot.

In Louisiana, your car is considered an extension of your home. Thus, castle doctrine extends to protecting your vehicle as it would your home. You have no duty to retreat from your home or your car in this state.

reallyHere is what really bothers the people of Reddit:

Apparently there were EIGHT passengers in that vehicle. So, 2 per seat? I think that's illegal in Texas?

Yeah a baby too which was definitely not in a car seat :/ I’m so glad they’re ok but I hope someone talks to them about car seat safety

frick that. He had no way of knowing if the perp was armed or not. The guy reasonably perceived that his family was in danger. He perceived a threat to his family, he took out the threat. I would have done the exact same thing.

It was 8. Check the lady who got out of the front last. She had a small child behind her.

Yea. The Mexican just walked right past the dude with a pistol pointed at his face. He had some balls. Good thing they were shot off.

Texas jury? Dude will be back home a few hours after the closing arguments.

The story was on NBC last night. Cops said no charges will be filed.

Prove it. No fricking way he counted each one exiting as he wrestled with the criminal.
