Yeah, that's kind of my point. 20 years of "progress" wiped out in just a few short months. We killed Bin Laden and did some damage to al Quaeda, only for the Taliban to move on in. I don't call that much progress for 20 years of occupation.

Doesn't seem difficult to understand. We arm and equip the Afghan security forces, and the Afghan security forces get run off by the Taliban. The hardware left behind falls into Taliban hands.
You can't possibly think that we would airlift vehicles after the Afghan security forces run away and leave their hardware behind.

The only reason to be in Afghanistan is the strategic reason to be able to strike or have incursions into Iraq/Iran/China/Pakistan or to gain metals out of their mines.

Every minute the US spends in the Middle East just bolsters the ranks of the terrorist organizations. They use our presence and inaccurate drone strikes as recruiting tools.
Gotta get out of there. It's a dick move to let the Taliban take over Afghanistan but we're only making the extremism worse out there.

The taliban were there when we went after bin laden. We kicked their arse out of the country, but in the past year they have taken it back due to feckless leadership and broadcast withdrawal dates.
Al queda is in a different country.
And do you realize how easy it is to lose progress when you do nothing, or worse, actively work to undo it?
