New York Times: "American negotiators are trying to extract assurances from the Taliban that they will not attack the U.S. Embassy in Kabul to avoid evacuating as the extremist group advances toward the capital after seizing cities across Afghanistan"

Lara Jakes from NYT

Anyone want to put money on how well we do negotiating with the Taliban? They have already issued an edict that they will murder every westerner they find when they take Kabul but I'm sure this administration will negotiate peace so nothing to worry about.

Again, this would've happened under Trump as well

I see I'm being downvoted for this. Anyone care to rebut that statement?

Sure, you are trying to defend Biden's incompetence with some bullshite assumption about Trump.

Trump's gone, you got what you wanted. Own it.

This worries me on a very personal front. I have a spec ops son who is highly likely to be called upon to clean this mess up.

Trump wanted to do the same thing but failed, gtfo with that.

In reality you can just thank the military industrial complex who are walking away from this shite (started by Bush, btw) trillions of dollars richer.

You can blame any president you want, but this is just a big money grab by military contractors to steal your tax dollars because your mommy and daddy were ok with invading middle eastern countries because of 9/11 even if those countries had nothing to do with 9/11 at all.

I don't think our special ops guys will even have time to get there before Kabul falls.

My guess if it's like most of the other military equipment we own, it's either broken or almost broken.

Look closer its a F-350. The OT can spot a F-350 from a mile away.

It's supposed to be cheaper to leave it than to ship it back. But I think they usually scrap it or destroy it to prevent it going to the enemy.

They typically don't. We have been leaving this shite behind without destroying them in Iraq and Afghanistan for a long time, and yes, we use the facade of turning the property over to "allies". I not only blame the military planners and logisticians for having horrific ideology on the risk analysis of leaving equipment, but the lobbyists who make it illegal to cannibalize equipment, which made it mandatory to ship more equipment over to then leave, because to be efficient or to bring equipment back would mean that the military doesn't have a need for more equipment back in the rear.

Another consequence of the MIC.

If they weren't going to take their equipment with them, why wouldn't they just destroy or immobilize them? Or was this supposed to be gifted to the government there?

US humvees & Maxxpro

Better set aside half of them for parts, because they aren't getting tires, belts, hoses, etc. for those things.

ETA: Well maybe for the Humvees since they use a lot of "off the shelf" GM parts.

Not if the logical idea was to leave the Afghans a cache to sack up and use to defend their lands. They clearly have no sacks, though. May as well moab what's left and be done w that dirt ranch.

Specifically, that is your good ole US Army doing what they do best right there, suck.

Bigger picture, that's the Pentagon.

Lastly, that's the Biden Admin.

But make no mistake, this is a crystal clear picture of how bad the US Army is. It's the shittiest branch of service that receives much more funding than the Marines.

And the Pentagon doesn't give a shite because hey, it's your money, not theirs.

frick off bitch, for all the issues the army has, marines have just as many.

and it was left with the afgan army, decision came from DOD, not the army....dumbass.

go find a crayon to chew on.
