I'm not parsing words when people, even some on the ground, are equating "abandoned" to "fully evacuated".

He is 21. Been in for 3 years and loves everything he is doing. Comes from a military family. I wasn't this nervous fighting in the various places presidents Reagan and HW Bush sent me.

Let's see if that is true, because as long as helicopters are still flying back and forth, it most likely isn't.
The last official statement from the Embassy (operating at the airport) was for all Americans still at the Embassy to "shelter in place".

Might be a long shot but maybe your son can contact Miles Le-vesconte Routledge on facebook. He is a British national in some Kabul safe-house it seems with British and other NATO troops.

We take over their airport after shutting down our own Airforce base. We ground all Domestic flights in favor of our own so that they have little-to-no options to leave. Then, we send them this email:
