When Afghani people/friendlies were told/advised to flee to Kabul during the Taliban advancement, it wouldn't be surprising for all of them to wind up at that one airport.

This is the biggest failing of the entire thing. How was this not done before we pulled out?

All kidding aside, I'm hoping he comes out with some good news and stats on our progress in hand.
I heard they crammed about 800 people into A C-17 yesterday and got them to Qatar. That's a hell of a story if everyone arrived safe and unharmed. Probably a decent way to deflect from the leadership crisis.

Not going to happen.
They'll send in paratroopers to secure the airport, then start landing more transport planes.
Not sure how they are handling the people who are "sheltering in place" in Kabul or its suburbs. I doubt they'll advertise how that's going to be dealt with.

" Brrrrrr situation" you mean brrrt? If so, urban CAS gonna be tough. What's the target and CDE better be dirgarded completely. Maybe in extremis, let's open it isn't coming down to that. Sounds cool and all but this complex situation is awful for troops and aircrew actually in the thick if it.

No kidding....read this one. It's not confirmed yet, but it's an incredible story if it's even remotely close to accurate.
Even more alarming than the stat of having that many people onboard is the "why".
800 People Evacuated From Kabul Aboard A Single C-17 Cargo Jet: Reports

This was likely during the same period when the airport's civilian ramp areas were being stormed by Afghans seeking salvation from the Taliban's impending rule. Understanding the worsening situation, the aircraft's crew apparently packed what they thought to be around 800 people into the jet's main cargo bay and headed for the safety of Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
Our friend Evergreen Intel was reporting this information in near real-time and new intercepted audio that has surfaced, which you can hear here, seems to confirm the reports.
As you can tell, the person talking to the flight, likely via satellite radio communications, is as stunned as we were when he heard the passenger load number. He asks "Ok, how many people do you think are on your jet?" Then after getting a reply from RCH 871 he responds "800 people on your jet?! Holy... Holy cow... Ok..."
According to Boeing, a C-17's passenger carrying capacity is officially "80 on 8 pallets, plus 54 passengers on sidewall seats." So, if this 800 number proves true, you can get an idea of just how jammed-packed the aircraft must have been.
They've crammed 700 people into a C-17 for civilian rescue operations before. And over 1,000 onto a B-747.
The UAE also crammed at least one of their C-17s to capacity yesterday in Kabul as well.
