Those super rich are funding the Democrats campaigns. No way the IRS is going to bother with them.

Much more lucrative to go after the upper middle class.

The $200k to probably $1m bucket of earners are probably the most abused in this country. Completely and utterly destroyed on an annual basis.

They don't REALLY make enough wealth for generational wealth unless they live like the middle class. But typically incredibly hard workers, Business owners, achievers who do it on their own (this is never inherited). Possibly two incomes in play. They don't really make enough to make use of tax shelters....

Yet they get the 36% tax hit.

You make $500k and see $170k go out the door. That's a big deal.

Also tariffs. But if you talk about that, you're not "conservative."

Here is another. Unless Trump’s Tax Cuts get renewed, they revert back to Obama’s in 2025. That means no more standard deduction of $24,000. Trump also had that number increase with inflation so it was even better.
In 2025 it drops back to 12,000 to Obama’s numbers.

That means your taxes go up hugely if Dems cheat another victory.

Of course. The rich use tax lawyers who are former IRS agents. The current IRS agents don’t want to go after those who fight back.

As of last summer, 63% of new audits targeted taxpayers with income of less than $200,000," reports the Wall Street Journal. "Only a small overall share reached the very highest earners, while 80% of audits covered filers earning less than $1 million.

Would be curious to know what percentage of total taxpayers fall in that under $200k, as well as the under $1M in annual earnings.

In other words, if 80% of the total returns is for people earning under $1M, wouldn't that number be a fair representation?

It prob is a fair representation and an outright lie from democrats.

Most sane people knew they werent only going after people who make over $400k. But thats what joe Biden will tell you.

this isnt really about if the irs is doing what they should be doing but joe Biden lying.

You still have payroll tax that many businesses get behind on and would also get behind on paying the consumption tax.

Ive never worked somewhere they were behind on their payroll taxes and sales tax, but ive never worked for a Democrat.

The biggest abusers of the payroll tax are federal contractors.

Also healthcare is a big abuser of this. Like smaller operations, dentist's offices etc...

If they never go after the business that doesn't pay, then what? They don't assess penalties in a timely manner then dont file liens. And this goes back to the 90s.

Although the majority of
businesses and individuals voluntarily comply
with the nation's tax
laws, many do not. For those that do not, IRS's enforcement programs
collected over $40 billion in taxes from businesses and individuals in
2007. In spite of these efforts, IRS has a significant gap between what
taxpayers should pay and what IRS actually collects. IRS estimates that
the annual net tax gap--the amount of taxes that go unidentified and
uncollected each year--amounts to nearly $300 billion.

quote:

IRS records show that, as of September 30, 2007,
businesses owed over $58 billion in unpaid federal payroll taxes,
including interest and penalties.

The $58 billion is over a period of years, some companies had 12 years of back taxes. So unpaid payroll taxes is only a small amount of the tax gap.

Two Years in a Row that I have to pay over $6000 at the end of the year. This is the only times I have ever not gotten $$ at the end of the year. If you are a two income household then you better get ready because they are coming after you!!

And like it or not… there are deadbeat businesses out there that will keep the money instead of forwarding it over when they fail to keep accounting records right or use the cash to keep the business afloat. Happens now all the time with payroll taxes. All the time. There are literally billions of dollars out there right now in unpaid and delinquent payroll taxes alone. I have to work with the IRS and clients constantly about getting them square on their payroll tax debt when they don’t make their correct deposits. Consumption taxes would be no different.

Deadbeat?

frick you, how about trying to survive. I pay my payroll taxes and I’m pissed off every week doing it.

Why the frick does a payroll tax even exist? Why the frick do I have to pay an additional tax just to pay my employees who are also paying taxes on that money.

And frick me if I try to pay myself. Paying taxes as the business to pay myself as well as income taxes. The government chops up my money 10 god damn times before it even get to my fricking checking account

Regarding a consumption tax versus income tax, one thing that never makes sense.

The argument for income tax is that it is progressive and does not impact the lower class too harshly. A consumption tax would tax everyone at the same rate (not true), so it would fall heavily on the lower class. Now if we assume this was true........

Then you are absolutely NOT a deadbeat.

Would you be ok paying yours… and your competition does not? Then they use the money to purchase new assets that makes them more competitive?

I agree with you here. And the answer is for the fed guv to roll around in and fling in all different directions.

It would be next to impossible for you to know unless they told you or you saw the books. They still put it on your W-2. You get credit. But the money may not have been sent.

Bet me, the first thing they look at is how you voted and if you are a registered R you are on top of the audit pile. If you voted as a listless vessel you are going down with endless nastygrams.

Contact your rep immediately. They have the power to intervene for you FEDERALLY-- after you sign a release form.
