In order to give the illegals a slice of America, they have to dig into the communist playbook and take it from someone. They have to crush the middle class in order to take what they have worked for and give it to the illegals.

Reading shite like this makes me sad. The federal income tax wasn’t implemented until 1913. Want to know what they did from 1783 - 1912? Consumption taxes.

I know. But there were no payroll taxes then either. Now a large amount of the collection side of the IRS is collecting overdue payroll tax. The examination part has a role in it too.

Also… if the consumption tax is paid to an entity, and the entity has to account and pay it over to the government.. there will be an IRS there to scrutinize it.

I hate to say it.. but eliminating IRS agents altogether now is a pipe dream.

However, with a consumption based tax.. it can be taken out of the lives of individuals.

All of those hires are NOT all agents…besides, those “agents” that are destined to become new agents, haven’t been completely hired yet, nor have they had time to even complete the required training….obvious misinformation on that reporting.

Why would there be a payroll tax? A consumption tax can be broadly applied and displace all income-type taxation, including payroll taxes.

Because of how it’s collected.

The business is the middle man in the transaction. For example, many people have no clue how sales tax is collected. It’s not magically sent to the state when the POS device or cash register rings you up, it’s accounted for and sent to the state by the business.

And what about cash transactions? They would be scrutinizing those for proper withholding of the tax.

And like it or not… there are deadbeat businesses out there that will keep the money instead of forwarding it over when they fail to keep accounting records right or use the cash to keep the business afloat. Happens now all the time with payroll taxes. All the time. There are literally billions of dollars out there right now in unpaid and delinquent payroll taxes alone. I have to work with the IRS and clients constantly about getting them square on their payroll tax debt when they don’t make their correct deposits. Consumption taxes would be no different.

The mission of government is always to increase control and power. They will never give up federal income tax. A consumption tax would supplement, not replace, income tax.

Those super rich are too difficult to pursue. Too many lawyers an accountants. Much more lucrative to go after the upper middle class. If you believed anything else would happen you’re an idiot

They'd never do that. As people get older, they generally consume less. They already own their homes, furniture, cars, etc. and they're at the peak of their skill and earnings. There's no way the government is going to let that income go un-taxed. Some, myself included, would just choose to consume less to avoid the taxes.

you would be floored at how many businesses have trouble… or not at all… forwarding the money withheld from paychecks to the government.

Struggling businesses “borrow” from the taxes they owe to pay other bills to keep the doors open. Sometimes they eventually get paid, sometimes they don’t.

IRS agents perform all sorts of jobs. A friend of mine who is retired from the IRS worked undercover for a bit with the ATF investigating the Boston mob.

Correct.

Rich and poor have little to lose. Rich control things, Poor just can do whatever and survive.

Its the middle class caught in the vice. Look at California and their war on the mddle class.

Was instituted by Executive Order by FDR during WWII. Once they start with the grab, it only gets bigger.

The GOPe voted to fund the new agents while campaigning against them.

The GOPe has had 4 times during budget extensions to defund the new agents.

Stop voting GOPe.

Of course they lied. Our entire politics is based on winning by promising something for nothing. It’s mathematically impossible to pay for everything the middle class wants - free university, subsidized social security (yes it is), subsidized housing (yes it is) - without the middle class paying for it. Poor people don’t have money and rich people don’t have enough.

That’s the one thing I don’t frown on the IRS doing. Collecting payroll tax.

That is the employees money that has been withheld. Not the businesses. No one wants to have a business withhold your money for your income tax or FICA and use it to pay for bills that month. They want it going where it should go.

As of last summer, 63% of new audits targeted taxpayers with income of less than $200,000," reports the Wall Street Journal. "Only a small overall share reached the very highest earners, while 80% of audits covered filers earning less than $1 million.

I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of those 80% either voted for or gave political contributions to Trump.
