My cousin took it and was contacted by a supposed half sister. It certainly would be out of character for my aunt to have given a kid up for adoption. He’s still trying to verify the claim without directly confronting his mom. Interesting stuff.

I haven’t done the DNA thing. Not gonna do it.

But my ancestors with my last name boarded a ship in Belfast in the 1740s. Mother’s family is English.

I have a family link to Martha Dandridge (later Martha Washington). I had an ancestor that was on the Ranger with John Paul Jones. My great great grandfather’s brother was in the Confederate Calvary with Forrest. I know he was at the Battle of Brices Crossroads and Tupelo. (He is buried 100 yards away from my family plot in the local cemetery). Had an ancestor that fought at Chickamauga and one other who was killed in a battle just before.

My grandfather claimed we had a relative at Shiloh. But I can’t find it. The ancestors that fought in Georgia joined just before Shiloh and was on the trains leaving Corinth as the Union army came in. That may have been the confusion. But to my surprise.... my mother has an ancestor that fought in Shiloh for the Union on the second day. Came in on the boat with Buell.

You can find a lot out on that site if you take your time and research.

Mathematically speaking, anyone with any German or French ancestry is more likely to be his descendant than not.

Anyone with some British ancestry is likely a descendent of a King.

The number of potential ancestors grows exponentially the further back you go. Going back 24 generations your family tree is 16 million wide. Of course many will be the same person in multiple slots, but still.

I understand where are coming from. I did not like it when the “swabbed” me for my DNA. But it was like my Battalion Medical Officer said, “sort of like Dental Records”, they have those.
I do agree with you though, just another step to, “mark of the beast”.

If you're from Afghanistan you are related to Genghis Khan.

Yep. There's been a bunch of cold case murders solved this way. Genealogist CeCe Moore kind of specializes in this.

You will be joining at some point. DNA is now used for medical treatments, so it’s going to happen unless you want to die sooner.

Plus: if you have a first cousin that’s done it, they can find you anyway.

I gave them a fake name and a burner email.

England & Northwestern Europe 58%
Scotland 16%
Ireland 10%
Germanic Europe 10%
Norway 3%
Wales 2%
Eastern European & Russia 1%
Cameroon, Congo & Western Bantu Peoples <1%

I get more white every time they update it. I used to be 3% African.

Seems like these private dna companies aren't held to privacy laws like hospitals, clinics, etc.

LEO, lawyers, randoms looking for people seem to have access to their databases easier too.

I think this is the issue with the "oh the govt has it already" argument.

Random point...tne of the OG heritage ones is run by the Mormon church too. Apparently having lineage records for errrrbody is a big deal to them.
