re: Tell me about Greece

Posted by Warheel on 11/10/25 at 8:31 pm to
We went to Athens and Santorini this September (with a few days in Cyprus in between). We used points in Santorini and got the fifth night free, which was plenty of time but we were glad we did. The hotel we were staying in was winding down operations for the season a week or two later. I cannot imagine how crowded that place is during high season.

Also did five days in Athens, which was also enough time. We rented a car one day and drove to Napfilo.

Greece was full of good food, good weather in early to mid September, and I enjoyed it immensely. The service workers were great and made the trip even better.

What Town? I'm outside of Raleigh and I'm honestly not sure which one you are talking about. Didn't notice any changes.

Not to speak for OP but it has to be Holly Springs. I am amazed at the results.

I had drinks with Redd Foxx in Vegas ( late 80’s) I was married to my first wife we were both early 20’s He was doing a comedy show and was hilarious. We were sitting up front and he was all in with sexual jokes with me and her. After the show a security guard come got us and said Mr Foxx would like to meet us The casino had a private bar in the back. He was with an Asian woman I’m not sure if it was his wife or girlfriend. He told that the IRS had taken everything he owned and he had to go back to work. He was really cool

Going to NYI vs Hurricanes tonight, excited to see Calder front runner Matthew Schaefer live.

Canes are beat up with injuries and will have 4 rookies on D tonight again
I remember walking around in a hot mask wearing a polyester costume that did not breathe in the humid south Louisiana weather. I’d be soaked in sweat by the time I got home trick or treating.
I realize this thread is about Reagan but I’ll make a parochial comment about what Clinton did with NAFTA and how if affected the south. It eradicated small town jobs all over the south in the name of free trade. Not only in the manufacturing sector but all the support businesses that catered to these folks making a small but honest living. frick that guy

If you were born 1972 or before you definitely had a beverage out of one of those. Essential gear on family camping trips back then

I could dunk a tennis ball. I could get high enough to dunk a bball, but struggled palming it. I couldn’t get that high with two hands.

Same, at 5” 11-1/2” I could easily dunk a tennis ball and a volleyball, and a football over a goal post but couldn’t palm a basketball. 40 years later and losing that half inch I can barely scrape the bottom of the backboard.

Love the leather colored goalie gear

I’m a Canes fan but will not wear Whalers stuff. It’s for the transplants.

Tried to get into him and listened to a bunch of stuff to try to justify paying the ticket price to see him.

Reminded me of Ygwie Malmsteen. I totally appreciate the virtuosity and technical wizardry but I don’t feel it in my gut.
Being there for Yordan’s bomb in 2022
Yeah, I was in high school in a small town and had to be at my summer job around 5:30 so I’d go up there and cash in my ticket for a Big Mac and buy fries for whatever they cost back then, and get another ticket (I could get soft drinks for free where I worked) and sometimes several more if I knew the girl working.

Dinner an a can of Kodiak back then would cost less than $2.
We are going to Sonoma in December. Anyone have recs?

We prefer old world earthy reds and citrusy whites with minerality. Price not a concern.

The only negative is not enough time at each.

My wife has been on a couple before we met and this is she said. To each their own but we like to stay for several days in a place and not feel rushed. It does help we have a ahit ton of hotel points and we get the 5th night free when we stay for four.

We also like planning our trips and I don’t mind driving in a foreign country, we have been to a lot of cool places off the beaten path and not being rushed means if we like the vibe of a place we visit we don’t have to hurry up and get back to the ship.

I don’t begrudge anyone who wants to do a cruise, it’s just not my cup of tea

I did, that’s probably why.
Mine had 1% Azores, which was new. No idea where that came from
