According to their DNA matching, I am
43% Scottish
29% Irish
12% Norwegian
11% English
3% Wales
2% Germanic Europe
I've also learned I'm 8th cousins with Elvis and a descendent of Charlemagne who was King of the Franks.

I haven't looked at Ancestry lately so the admixture may have changed a little bit but the last time I looked it was this:
England, Wales & Northwestern Europe- 49%
Germanic Europe- 45%
Norway- 6%

Supposedly I’m descended directly from William the Bastard, and I’m Scot Irish. I’m kind of tempted to do an ancestry thing, but I don’t feel comfortable sharing my DNA with a company and apparently my grandfather really got around behind my grandmother’s back and my Dad doesn’t want some theoretical half sibling knocking on his door. My cousin’s aunt did a DNA test, found out she has a long lost half brother, and now that half brother is going after the estate that he feels he has a right to.

Judging from your DNA you are super racist. Congrats!

Proportions that should be very common on a Southern Football board.

What is the problem if you are a law abiding citizen, and plan on staying that way? If you were in the military since 1998-99, you are in it, no choice in the matter.

I don't understand how people can be stupid enough to do this

They can get your DNA from you, or your relatives, doesn't make much difference to them.
In will say that for most Whites, their last name and appearance will tell them the biggest portion of their genetic history anyway. You can safely ignore your grandmother's tales about a Cherokee princess marrying into the family. 97% of Whites have no discernable Injun blood in them.

Their surname isn’t Newman or Abbott is it?

I was in the military, my DNA is already in a Federal database so the Ancestry thing isn't a big deal. Now, if you kidnapped, raped and murdered your next door neighbor 23 1/2 years ago, you might want to avoid doing an Ancestry kit.

Hahaha this cracked me up.
Might wanna tell your relatives not to get one either. Maybe that's Hank's plan here...

Because there's no way the Fed. Gov. would ever have access to a person's DNA.
Nope.
Nope.

This is another case where you’re not really the customer you’re the product:

Now just put an Alexa in your home, post pictures to FB and your job history to LinkedIn and you’ll have effectively surrendered your privacy.

While the company doesn’t disclose the specifics of its data sharing agreements, they have always been central to 23andMe’s strategy. “The long game here is not to make money selling kits, although the kits are essential to get the base level data,” Patrick Chung, a 23andMe board member, told Fast Company last year. “Once you have the data, [the company] does actually become the Google of personalized health care.”

My cousin’s aunt probably has an IQ below 80 and my uncle is quite pissed at her for doing it due to the legal bills he’s had to go through.
