Did you make sure you didn’t throw any trash from your hotel in a public receptacle?

That is a more expansive claim than you likely intended.

You think being in another country for ten days will give you an accurate idea in what it would be like to live there? Did you work any for those ten days? Did you pay income tax? Did you travel to the not-so-nice areas of the cities? Did you need to seek medical care? Did you have to pay insurance? A house note?

Yeah, I thought back in 2000 that being in Australia was the bee’s knees. It took me about a two years of living there to realize I’d rather be back in America.

Yeah? Ponder on whether or not you could afford to drive anywhere if you lived in a Scandinavian country. 25% VAT and ~$10/gallon gas puts vehicle ownership out of the range of the majority (only 46% own a vehicle).

Also, when you get home take a goooooood look around. That home would be anywhere from 33%-60% smaller as the majority of homes there are apartments or small townhomes.

And I hope you like the cold. During the winters the average temps can range from mid 30s to -10s.

And, finally. while liberals here love to talk longingly of the "free" healthcare there, it's paid for by a considerably higher income tax rate and plagued by the same things all "free" systems are: far longer wait times for non-emergency visits, staffing shortages and burnouts, excessive administrative burdens and low bed capacity. Why? Because nothing is free, there is always a cost somewhere.

That is the equation. People view what American Exceptionalism has created here as pedestrian.

Why?

Well, because "that's just the way it is."

I know a guy who lives in Memphis area, and went to a laid back work convention in Prague. He was amazed at how the cafes all left their chairs and tables out over night with no fear of theft. Drinks were cheap, everybody was happy, friendly, having a good time. Never saw what he considered a dangerous neighborhood while walking all over the place. His last day he really started questioning his life.

There are some things that I miss in Oz, such as the beaches and some of the countryside. The only other country I’ve spent any significant amount of time in is Japan. The Japs do have some cool and wild things going on. But live there? Hell no.

Nope. shite on it all you want, but the south is where I was born and bred, so in Dixie’s land I’ll take my stand to live and die in Dixie.

I know…I just replied because it was the last post.

Also because I’m not saying that we are not the best at everything….but hands down, at the moment, we have more freedom than most of the world. Best bang for your buck is the USA.

Well, you could come pretty close with life in the Pacific Northwest.

I feel the same way when I travel to northern Arkansas to fish then come back to the delta

It’s not the country or the state. It’s the demographics

Had you flown into Boise, Idaho instead of ATL you would have felt differently

Flying back via Delta to Atlanta from Europe is always sobering.
You see culture and fatties everywhere.

However, America still beats most of Europe if you enjoy money and building businesses.

One day I’m moving to the whitest area I can find in the USA. I’ve dealt enough with the BS for my entire life. I’m isolating myself as best I can the rest of my life.

I’m a racist?

Yeah? No one can judge me!

Right? Isn’t that what the pink pussy hat wearing nose ring liberals say?

You need to spend more than 10 days somewhere to truly know how it is. I’ve spent 4 years abroad and a year of that in Iceland which is my favorite country out the ones I’ve been to. As much as I love it here and could see myself moving here, I’ve had the chance to talk to the locals and the governments abroad are way more overreaching than presented. America truly is the greatest country in the world, and it always takes me coming home to remind me why.

Atlanta is great. I don't know what the frick you are talking about. You people from Louisiana have no room to talk about another city or state sucking.

Atlanta is a world class city
