I lived in OKC from 1983 - 2010. I saw them all the time.

I moved to Guthrie in 2010. I don't think I've seen any since then.

Also the Yorktown benefitted from a war economy heavily geared towards military industry.

I don’t think this is so. When the war actually started the US was woefully unprepared in spite of FDR’s efforts to get us moving in that direction.

There are over 4,500 people aboard Ford. There is no way a cover story would work. Seriously, you have to know that or are you just trolling with all of this?

It’s not a direct comparison due to smart phones and the internet but sailors and marines were quarantined and kept under supervision after the Battle of Savo Island to prevent the info of the battle leaking out.

I do doubt that the Ford was hit and that’s what’s necessitating the repairs based on photos I’ve seen.

The hit on that base was pretty bad. However, one way to get new planes is to not have the old ones anymore

We’re definitely getting the E-7 Wedgetail from this conflict. And maybe the Air Force will be more careful with protecting/concealing their planes on the ground. There’s no excuse.

Exactly. It's one damn plane. An important plane, but one plane.

Here is a great BIG FYI for everyone:

There has never been nor will there ever be a war without propaganda, period.

The US caught up damn quick. That is the reason for Hitler "WTF, I CALL H4X!" meme

US went from a depression to an industrial juggernaut very quickly.

And we had a major steel and rubber manufacturing base that was already ramping up when we joined the war, because we were selling to active WW2 belligerent.. .and already engaged in Northern Africa.

The US manufacturing boom surrounding WW2 is truly miraculous.

I live and hour from the OKC metro but my favorite Army Surplus and Fishing Tackle shops are in the SW OKC metro area so I shop there often enough. Every time I pass through, see at least one AWAC in the air.

Yay, and massacring their own people!

What bravery! What courage!

Its funny to see you guys so giddy at the thought that they Iran has us 'on the run'. But too bad for you, it's all propaganda. They got lucky and got a drone or a missile through.

umm We only have like 16 E-3 Sentrys....And they don't make them anymore. Losing one is a bit more than a "minor inconvenience"

umm How many do we need to beat up Iran? Does this impact that in any way? Nope. We hit them the same with or without that one plane. Because like you said, we've got like 16 of them.

Go take a midol maam. This is war. It's not going to be clean and tidy. That's why you build in redundency.

We sent like 6 to the area..40% of the aircraft’s we operate. I’d imagine the military think they are fairly important to our operations in Iran.

Now think how easy it would be for them to hit our lads in the Strait or on Kharg Island or at their uranium sites from much closer distance.

I promise I will if you promise to think how easy it would be for the USA to hit their lads anywhere, including the Strait or on Kharg Island or at their uranium sites from much closer distance.

Then you must promise to think about how easy it will be for the USA to literally destroy that country and take every resource it owns.

Do you promise?

Taking the island will be easy

The Slang: Calling someone a "pelican" is classic Aussie/British-adjacent slang for a "fool" or a "noodle." Ironically, the user "Victor R Franko" is using non-American slang to mock you for using non-American slang.
