Wait, I thought you didn't have to repay Pell Grants if you actually graduate right?

Correct, but if you qualify for Pell, you can also take out additional loans to cover "expenses." A huge clusterfrick.

Your point is that this affects black people more even though way more white people are benefiting from it

I get your point, it's just not reality.

So is this a done deal or does Congress have to approve? Is this just some nonsense to use against Republicans when they block it?

This is truly uncharted territory: brave new paths are being forged by America's Economist-In-Chief.

Before recoiling in alarm at the new student debt relief package, look at the upside to the American economy: 20 K not being payed to satisfy a loan encumbrance can now be 20 K invested as a down payment on a home, a drone, new electronic equipment, a new electric vehicle, or whatever.

Hate to break it to you, but the kind of people benefiting from this don't have an extra liquid $20k to suddenly spend

Not bad trolling. This should get a few bites.

Let’s be real. They don’t give a frick about their credit either and were never paying it back to begin with.

Is that politically correct to say?

I’d argue that the ones who would receive this will either be pissed as it was totally forgiven or would try to hard to vote regardless

This is completely catering to low intelligent and morally questionable loan holders.

Biden does not have the authority to do this solely. This is pandering to vote Dem in the midterms for congress to pass this.

Even if some dumbass votes democrat because of this, they will get $10K erased in student debt but not consider the increase in gas price, energy costs, higher taxes, 401ks plummeting, and higher inflation.

People are idiots.

You are too stupid to vote. They weren’t paying their student loan debts because the cost of everything else has risen. Their disposable income was maxed out

what about people who paid their loans back.....

What about people who worked while in collage so they didnt have to take out loans....

what about parent who saved up to help their kids not have to take out loans....

What about a certain sector of society that when to college only for the reason to take out loans to get "free" money they never intended to pay off and are now getting what they wanted.....

Because you have to be poor to qualify for the Pell grant.

You don't get much poorer than me in college. I don't remember what percentage of my money was Pell Grants, but it was a lot. I graduated on time and got a job less than two weeks after graduation. Think I paid off all my loans in under 4 years. Sure, it was a lot less than today's tuition, but it wasn't easy for a young man with a wife, mortgage, and a couple of kids.

Wonder if I'll get money back too?
