If CNN were unbiased in their reporting, the headline would be:

Democrats unveil legislation aimed at allowing up to 10 people to be killed in mass shootings

I spent 8.5 years active duty Army. Still in the National Guard. I qualify every year with a 9mm and/or M4.

An AR-15 (civilian M4) is what I'm most comfortable firing and have been trained on.

So that's what I chose to use for protection.

But even more important than that, because I want one. You not seeing the need for them is irrelevant.

Just the introduction of this bill will have gun sales through the roof.

They talk about the hundreds killed in 13 years by AR's but ignore the tens of thousands killed by handguns. They're fricking hacks.

Oh ... give'em time ... they'd get around to taking handguns, too.

My question to you is what weapons do you think civilians should be allowed to own?

tons of people hunt with ar platform rifles, they are great for wild pigs, quick follow up shot can be very useful. Also it's the most common rifle for 3 gun sport. Also, please explain to me why you need access to free speech or protection from unreasonable search? Are you saying anything particularly important, do you really need to be able to talk about politics? Political speech has gotten hundreds of millions of people killed in the last century....etc etc. It's in the bill of rights, if you don't like it amend the Constitution

Why do you need 80 proof liquor? Why is it created? Why would someone need to buy it today? How many lives would be saved if we didn't have it?

An AR is a rifle.

Just for the record.

Every time someone pretends they want to discuss removing the constitutional right to bear arms, remember it's people like him who are doing the arguing.

You aren't dealing with people educated on the subject, they often think that irrelevant points like whether "you need it" is important and, of course, want to be the arbiter of determining the need.

I think everyone knows this is the inevitable direction they'll go which is why AR's are a perfect line in the sand.

When someone blasts a bunch of people with a Glock 19 (like the VT shooter) after AR's are banned, then semi-auto handguns will be the next target.

It's actually funny in CA. You can't have a rifle with a removable magazine (there are a few silly ways around it) but you can have a pistol with a removable mag with a 10 round max capacity despite the fact that handguns kill far more people than ARs. I believe that starting in 2018, you'll also have to have a background check every time you purchase ammo.

In other words it's basically the same as the previous ban which was allowed to sunset because it ultimately proved to be meaningless. You can always count on Progs to double down on stupid.
