States should secede from the United States if the Senate is ever abolished. The Senate was a key feature of the Great Compromise . If abolish, the conditions for the Great Compromise and thus the Union disappear.

I'm not convinced both sides aren't pretty close to being fine with some sort of split now as long as it doesn't impact their day to day much.
Like if the red states became independent and an agreement was put in place allowing duty free rail and port access to the west coast along with easy travel back and forth via passport would anyone be worse off?
Neither side is content with the status quo and the blue states are running left so hard and so fast towards open socialism or even communism that absent major changes to me a major schism of some sort is almost inevitable.
My main concerns are not allowing China into the blue states, the power grid and ensuring access for the red states to west coast ports.

This “entrenchment clause” means that any amendment stripping a state of its equal vote in the Senate (two senators, each with one vote) requires that state’s explicit consent. Changing the number of senators per state (while keeping them equal) or altering other aspects of Senate powers is more feasible under the standard three-fourths ratification rule, but complete abolition runs directly into this barrier.

Don't we have the Senate as a constitutional mandate? I know they used to be chosen by state leadership rather than direct elections. But they can't just get rid of it. But stay vigilant. I know we the people out here don't want to get wrapped up in a civil war.

The Senate cannot be abolished without a Constitutional amendment. An amendment can't pass without support of 3/4 of the States ratifying it. Soooooo... if the Senate is ever abolished, it's going to be because the States went along with it.
All that said, I think if we get to the point where that passes from Congress to the States, a Convention will be called or else we'll break out into a civil war with the lines being drawn geographically between socialist/communist regions (those areas which have elected socialist/communist leaders) and non-socialist/communists.

I'm not worried, because 75% of all petroleum products and refineries in the US are contained in red state south. There's not enough sunlight and wind to keep California in Electricity much less rest of the blue states.
