How many democrat voters pay enough taxes to matter? All a certain demographic of democratic voters see is $25.00/hr to push burgers through a window so they can buy more 9" nails, 3" eyelashes and a bad weave job.

Wow. This would decimate the job market.

I was not aware. Thank you.

It does nothing to diminish my point, however.

This will do absolutely zero good for anyone in the long run. It will help a few in the short term (maybe for a year or two) and will hurt every single other person who works and currently makes more than whatever the min wage were to be raised to.

What do you think raising the min wage to $20/hr will do to YOUR purchasing power?

What's happened to your purchasing power since 2009?

It's done nothing but gone down. And raising the min wage will only amplify that. The defacto raising of the min wage, which has already happened, has been a contributor to my loss of purchasing power. Other factors are nonstop printing of money, COVID checks, and various fraud.

What's your point, may I ask?

Federal minimum wage hasn't gone up since 2009. Inflation has increased by about 54% since then. What are you afraid of? Runaway inflation? We already have that.

Maybe if jobs paid better, all the girls wouldn't be turning to OnlyFans and all the boys wouldn't be killing themselves.

If we can limit minimum wage to 25 bucks an hour, how about limiting lawyers to 100 bucks an hour maximum, or car dealership repairs to 50 bucks an hour maximum?

AI in minimum jobs will reduce the need for quantity which is different than replacing. Those who after 20 years of working are still in that category will not be keeping those jobs

This is a purely emotional based response.

Since we already have inflation, you're suggesting we simply add more, and somehow that will fix anything? It's simple....jobs should pay more. Problem solved! Sheesh.

Jobs, by and large, pay proportional to the value an employee brings to the employer. Employers want to pay as little as possible, and employees want as much as possible (often times more). Things settle down somewhere in the middle based on market influences. Market variables are far and wide and won't be the same in one place as they might be in another.

I'm all ears if you can coherently explain how raising the minimum wage will help anyone. Just be sure to include the mid and long term affects.

This is precisely what I said in a post a little further down than the one you replied to.

The only thing you're missing here is that I also said whatever jobs were lost in one sector would be offset by gains in another sector and by gains in new sectors we haven't thought of yet.

Why is it that y'all can easily see the inevitable effects of this when proposed by Bernie Sanders immediately, but remain blind to the same inevitable consequences of tariffs when Trump proposes them even after all of this time?

Why do you think the employer won't simply eat the increase in production costs the way you swore that they would with tariffs?

I'm genuinely fascinated by this.

I mean. It makes sense.

It’s 2058.

Have you tried raising a family of 27 on only $22/hr?

You convinced me let's take it to 75 an hour.

Then we can wait a few years!

Basically every business will go out of business and then they would be dependent on the the gov for everything just like they want.
