It will definitely encourage more people to hire illegal immigrants under the table tho.

If someone wants a living wage, you need a skill that people need and will pay you for. Slinging fries at McDonald's is not a skill. Learn carpentry, plumbing, truck driving, auto mechanics, etc.

Future AI bots will work cheaper than that.

Idk about $25, but I think anywhere between $17.50 - $20.00 is a good start. At $20 dollars an hour your gross is $38,000 a year. Rent is $1000+ a month, no one can live off $7.25/hr.
You reckon rent won’t increase, too?

So you can pass a law that would probably put half the businesses in America out of business?

Only the free market can set wages. Anything else has a myriad of devastating economic consequences.

If Businesses cannot hire anyone at $7.25, they will raise their offer. Artificially setting minimum wage results in higher unemployment and bankrupt businesses… 100% of the time… every time.

I learned this in 7th grade.

It doesn’t matter what you think is “fair.”

Rush’s great logical argument… so simple and effective. Who picks the random number? If 25 is good why not $100?

frick it I say $1000. If we are going to commit economic suicide let’s do it in style. I want the streets littered with families living out of their Bentley hoping it doesn’t get repoed while getting dressed for their job at Circle K

Well just like we learned in Covid lockdowns, the government picks winners and losers in business and they hate small business. If you shut them down then the bigger donors can gobble up the market share and increase profits and share value. The rich get richer.

I don't fully agree with this. AI will simply shift the required skills in order to make a living. There was a time when electricity was becoming a thing, and people cried about the candle makers and many others losing their jobs. It's easy to say, " but this is different". But is it really? Back then, do you not think electricity was just as big a deal and just as much of a huge step forward to them as AI is to us

Whoever says this is different is correct

Most voters are not That Bright so issues like this brought up before the midterms will sway the vote, the same way Mandani got elected with BS.
