Flipping hamburgers at McDonald’s was considered a temporary job. Usually performed by high school kids. There is a reason you get paid minimum wage for that job. It takes no skill. Now they treat that job like it is going to be the job they have until they retire. If they want more money go and learn how to increase your pay by becoming more knowledgeable and productive.

Then they'll feel the wrath of every single American who currently makes more than $25/hr (which is probably most people who work). Every single one of them will lose big time, and it'll take YEARS for THEIR wages to catch up to the astronomical rise in prices.

this is the part that everyone misses. If min wage is 7.25 now and someone has worked for 5 years for a company and now makes 14.50. They have gotten skills and exactly 100% in wage increases in the time they have worked there. What are you going to pay them if min wage goes to 25 an hour? are you going to bump them to 25 an hour and pay them the same as the person walking in the door with no skill set at all or are you going to pay them 32.50 and amount to an increase of basically 20% rather the 100% increases they have had? Are you going to pay them 50 an hour and double min wage like they had done before?

In reality, none of these are true. They will most likely be replaced by an automated robot of some sort that can do the job more efficiently and without labor regulations governing breaks and such.

Pushing the minimum up will create pressure on other wage earners upstream

If I make $25 now and the minimum wage is $15 and then they up the min to $25, ima gal have to get a big raise….
