You'll be okay for now, other than whining about things like this. I'll be doing the same whining right along with you.

It's when we retire, we'll have worry, as our entire savings will be pretty much wiped out.

AI will not be performing the job of a plumber or an electrician.

AI will not be repairing vehicles.

AI will not be building rockets.

AI will not be cooking your food.

AI will not be farming.

AI will not be building industrial facilities or doing any job where hand tools are required.

The list goes on and on.....

I will concede the possibility that I am wrong on a couple of these, but those won't happen in your lifetime anyway. As those things develop, people will adapt and the skills required to make a living will just be...different.

Where do high school kids get entry level part time jobs at 25 an hour?

Our son is going to get his first job this summer and will be making roughly $17 an hour for being an attendant at one of our water parks. The park is a client of mine and I work directly with the revenue director. If they had to pay a minimum of $25 an hour there would be price increases everywhere. This is another insane push from the progressives meant to destroy small business owners that cannot just absorb these costs.

This is simply not true, btw. Electricity did replace humans. So did the steam and diesel engine. Those things increased production on orders of magnitude. The work of several men could now be done by one man in many cases.

You're correct that electricity did employ more humans, though. And most of those jobs were in completely new fields of work.

AI will reduce the workforce on all of those minus maybe plumbing and electricians.

Mechanics are becoming computer technicians more and more.

AI already has its “fingerprints” on all those other things and will gradually gain a grip instead of a touch.

Exactly. These entry level jobs either go away or prices skyrocket.

Retards run to blame the business owner.

Idk about $25, but I think anywhere between $17.50 - $20.00 is a good start. At $20 dollars an hour your gross is $38,000 a year. Rent is $1000+ a month, no one can live off $7.25/hr.

moot point. they don't do these things bc they're dumb. they do them bc they're puppets who have no integrity or decency. they are evil, not stupid.

Any job loss in one sector will be offset by gains in another sector and by those created in new sectors that we haven't thought of yet. Maybe not instantly. There may be some lag in adaptation. There always is. 30 years ago, you couldn't find enough computer programmers. Now almost everyone has some basic programming skills even if they don't realize it.

A 50 year old with a long career isn't likely to take kindly to starting all over again, I will concede. But this is a tale as old as time.

Pay isn’t a charity.
It’s a wage commensurate with a skill/ability.

Not a charity.

The motivation to increase skills and abilities is often a better wage.

And within a decade of raising the min wage (maybe not that long), they STILL won't be able to live on min wage, no matter how high you raise it.

The only logical min wage is $0.00.

What do YOU make? Let's assume its 3X the current min wage. What do you think raising the min wage to $20/hr will do to YOUR purchasing power? How long do you think it will take for YOUR wages to catch up to the astronomical rise in prices? Or will you just suck it up and accept the fact that once you were worth 3X min wage, and now you're only worth 2X min wage?

People need to understand that wages are the same as prices. Wages are the price of labor. They aren't set arbitrarily in the overwhelming majority of cases. They're data driven and represent an actual value.

Real quick - how's that working out in Cali?

Could you imagine how fast money's value would plummet.

"Hey! This Escalade was only $60K last week. How come now it's $203,000?!"

What a moronic excercise.

Are family owned businesses still allowed to employ family members for no wage?

Seems like it will be the only way to have a viable business.

The Patels learned this long ago. It also helps they have hundreds of brothers/sisters/cousins.
