Retired Admiral Philip Mathias
Former nuclear submarine commanding officer
Former Director of Nuclear Policy for the Ministry of Defence

quote:

The UK is no longer capable of running a nuclear submarine program after years of mismanagement, retired Rear Admiral Philip Mathias has said.

The former director of nuclear policy at the Ministry of Defense sharply criticized the state of Britain’s submarine fleet in an article published by The Telegraph on Saturday.

quote:

He argued that repeated delays in delivering new vessels, combined with long patrols, have resulted in a “shockingly low availability” of submarines to address the threats facing the country, while budget cuts and a “huge failure” in managing key personnel have exacerbated the problem.

quote:

“The UK is no longer capable of managing a nuclear submarine program,” Mathias stated. “Performance across all aspects of the program continues to get worse in every dimension. This is an unprecedented situation in the nuclear submarine age. It is a catastrophic failure of succession and leadership planning,” he wrote.

quote:

Mathias also highlighted ongoing delays in the delivery of Astute- and Dreadnought-class vessels. Although the HMS Agamemnon, the UK’s most modern nuclear submarine, entered service in September, “the uncomfortable truth is that she took over 13 years to build – the longest-ever construction time for a submarine to be built for the Navy,” he wrote.

quote:

Simon Case, the official overseeing the UK’s submarine construction plan, told the parliamentary defense committee last month that “decades of neglect” had severely weakened the industry. “Somehow we became the world’s most embarrassed nuclear nation,” he said.

This is just one of the multitude of horrendously failing end products of 14 straight years of Conservative Party rule.

Diversity is their strength!

Brits a bunch of cucks. No spine and allowing their daughters to get raped on the regular by illiterate losers from 3rd world countries.

What’s going on over there is the HILL I WOULD DIE ON IF THIS COUNTRY EVER GETS THAT BAD!

Probably a good thing.

Really don't want a Muslim country having nuclear submarines.

The Admiral you extensively quote clearly states "that “decades of neglect” had severely weakened the industry."....

Then you insert your opinion "...14 straight years of Conservative Party rule."

So which is it...decades or a little over one decade?

Speak oh toothless one!
Or go back to sucking an egg...

First thing that came to my mind, T. They are lost and we are dancing on the edge. It spreads like a metastatic cancer.

This is the equivalent of the videos on YouTube where a village is given wells, trained on how to use them and proceeds to not do any maintenance and sell parts for scrap until they break.

When Rome fell it was over hundreds of years across multiple generations.

Were watching societal decline in the name of DEI that moves so fast it can be tracked within the lifespan of a naval vessel.

Britain is a failed state. The Royal Navy is a joke and couldn’t defeat the Austrian Navy, much less a real Navy.

With Congress just deciding yesterday to micromanage the troop levels in Europe and Korea I think we see that the US is going to be Europe's protector for a long time. The whole EU model can't work without poor mostly conservative American men joining and fighting for their right to be smug, hate on the US as a whole and fine us when our companies don't comply with their regulatory authority.

Pretty straightforward.

The Conservatives ran Britain from 2010 to 2024.

They had ample time to fix, or at least improve, the British armed forces.

Instead, they made them worse. Much worse. If you followed British politics at all you would be very much aware of this reality.

The Conservatives failed to govern on all major challenges, be it the decaying armed forces, the open borders, freedom of speech, etc etc.

Not a bad thing. It’s happening just in time, unless you want a Muslim country with a nuclear submarine fleet carrying nuclear warheads.
