Being a racist is one thing. There are lots of those, and many of them right here obviously, but when it becomes a problem - at least in my eyes - is when you let your prejudices bleed over into your public life as a public servant.
It's pretty simple really - if the guy had to resign because of the exposure of the shite, he deserved to lose his job. This is no different than if we found out some politician resigned due to some moral transgression. People are only defending this guy because they too are racist.

The problem here is taking selfies with detainees and calling them trophies. Whether they be minorities and motivated by race or not. This not only very likely runs afoul of department codes of professional conduct very egregiously, but also could put the police department in a litigious situation from violation of privacy laws to potential civil rights violations.

People defending this guy are essentially saying it's ok for cops to break the law so long as he does so with minorities and doesn't get caught. It's this attitude precisely why we have so many piece of shite cops on the streets. No, they need to be held to a higher standard than this. Period.

Idc about the guy. It was just dumb as hell for a woman who will definitely be demanding child support or alimony to make it nearly impossible for her ex to find work so he can pay her. She's not a "rawr rawr justice!" type it seems, she did it so she has a better chance to get the kids, which I understand.... but damn. The end result will be her potentially trying to rely on a percentage of her ex's new minimum wage job to raise her kids and take care of herself. Hopefully her new man has a decent job or she has a decent job.

I promise you every person in this thread defending this dudes actions would feel a whole lot differently if it was them that had been handcuffed by a cop who proceeded to take selfies with them while detained and called them his trophies. That is disgusting behavior from a cop even if you take the obvious racism out of the equation.
