Good luck with this one

non-violent felons should get their rights restored.

There are also a lot of white color felonies that should fall under this catagory.

Exactly. That's why a right to petition to get your rights restored is a good thing.

No. Homo. It’s a statement.

I wish you would go to your pimp’s house, get two flat tires on your Vespa and get bitched slapped for being late

That’s an example of a wish.

Depends on the crime. RAPE, Murder, Manslaughter, Drug dealing, Felony Assault, etc.. no clemency or restoration of rights.

Depends on the crime.

I think it matters if you view time served as paying a debt to society vs mere punishment.

That largely depends on the individual and his victim(s).

If you can be forgiven, (victim not dead) and you demonstrate remorse; I am inclined to give the person the benefit of a doubt. Rights are not privileges. If the punishment fits the crime and the criminal is free, then his rights should be restored.*

I like that.

This poll went very well. I’ve made similar statements in the past on this board, and was downvoted to oblivion. Maybe it’s the way the statement is made.

Why sure. Standard for eligibility is non-violent crime, non-sex related crime, first time felony offender only.

Blanket felony policy needs to be amended.

It depends on the right and on the crime.

Violent criminal history, no. If they have nonviolent crimes then yes upon completion of their sentence, including probation.

No

They should not be involved in any lawmaking decisions

They gave up that right. Just go back to work and try to become a productive member of society. That’s enough

I'm a very strong proponent of limited voting rights. Just like the founding fathers (and Plato). Most people are too fricking stupid to vote.
No women, no welfare recipients, no felons. Living your entire life without being convicted of a felony is the easiest thing to do.
Second easiest thing is graduating HS. All you have to do is stay alive till age 18. If you were proud to get your HS diploma you were a loser.

As for gun rights you can get around it. G. Gordon Liddy was a convicted felon. He could not own a gun. His wife owned LOTS of guns. No problem.

I don't think murderers (m1/2) and child rapists should be allowed back in to society.
