The only way you get respect for Mother Nature is by getting your arse kicked by it. These people weren't old enough to have this kind of perspective. They over confident and it killed a bunch of people.
This is why the old guys you worked with were the first ones to turn back or not go out at all on account of weather. They've had their arse kicked enough to know.

I agree with you somewhat. I think female military pilots are trained enough to force out emotions..
I also think a young commercially trained male can be equally untrustworthy.
I have been on a commercial flight that disaster was avoided by a male pilot, prior military.
I have landed and took off on GTMO NAS military planes with a very capable AD female pilot.
I think age and experience are more of a factor.
Imagine this young woman's parents hearing their child about to die and then die.

Everyone hates on the Boomers, but they had a level of competence that the youngest generations seem to lack. And as they age out and retire from critical industries, avoidable failures will increase.
Going back to 1993, we can thank boomers for 100% of the national debt. That's like 37 of our 40 trillion of debt. Quite the weird display of boomer competence.

This young lady claimed to be CFI and CFII rated on her Instagram account. So not only was she very young, she was also a flight instructor. Unless she was just lying on her social media accounts.
What the actual frick?

That thing looks and sounds to have been in a full stall.
Probably was the ice that the pilot mentioned.
Exactly, and while some planes can recover from stalls, they can’t with the ice that caused it still on the wing.

why did it have to be a woman driver? Shouldn't the pilot or co pilot know where the deice button is?
There is a lot you don’t understand. First, she probably wasn’t in command, and second, the “deice” could have been overwhelmed.

If ice gathered on the vertical stab it can cause it to go into a tail plane stall and nose down. what you do is the exact opposite of a wing stall. So if they thought they were in a wing stall and did the steps to control it then it would make it worse to the point they cant get it out.

Give me a choice, and I’d rather not fly with a pilot that young. But, if the person flying the plane (she wasn’t) got them to that place - in the center of a bad cell, at 37k feet, rather than deviating mid-state - then where they ended up is on the pilot not the FO
Maybe it was on the pilot. They could have been in IMC, in which case he couldn’t see the cell. He had his avionics weather, but those are sometimes a couple of minutes behind. ATC usually keeps us away from stuff like that. He probably was flying a vector assigned to him by ATC. The cell could have popped up 30 seconds before he hit it, and his avionics might not have shown it.

unless Elon or some other genius figures out how to prevent stuff like this, we're just getting started on a nightmare era in aviation
It’s already figured out, just a question of implementation now.

THere is a guy on YouTube who breaks these videos down. It will be interesting to see his take.
He routinely makes observations about license type vs. how much time they have logged in certain types of aircraft.
Just because your license gives you rating clearance, doesn't mean you are qualified to fly that plane.

OT is saying emphatically the boyfriend was not on the plane. What are your sources telling you about this information?

That was no plane. It was an ICBM launched from Israel; I mean Iran. They were testing out the Mar a Lago defense system and it failed. At least that's what I heard on the interwebs.

Says who? Some shite stain on X with a paper bag on his head?
The great thing about the internet is that unaccomplished people are allowed to pass judgment on topics they know nothing about.
Seriously. WTF is this guy and why did you repost the opinion of some anonymous clown on the internet?

CFI ratings don't even register with this type of aircraft. The very least it would require an IFR, Multi-Engine Turbine, Commercial , and if a Charter is worth a shite, their Pilots also have an ATP, plus a Type Rating on top of the FAA certs. CFI is an hrs building measure for civilians. If She was only 20 yrs old I would find it hard to believe she had more than an ME rating.

Aviation and maritime disaster threads are the best.
In a world where we stuck on repeat navigating AI slop,
When somebody kick-flips a CRJ, nails a bridge support with a containership, backs into the Brooklyn bridge in a tall-ship, or flys a Blackhawk directly into a commercial aircraft lading in DC ...
It's all hands on deck.
No better threads to be on.
