People who were forced to take a DEI class

What was the result of the class?
Did most buy into it?
or
Did it turn attendees against DEI?
What was your opinion of how you felt and those in the class?

I don't think the goal of these types of classes is for you to "buy in." The goal is to beat you down until you submit to this ideology.

Which in itself is BS because that shows that the corporate world bows down to what use to be their road to forge ahead

Unconscious bias is the new thing that’s going ‘round.
It was entertaining listening to them describing human instincts almost as if they were a bad thing.

You don't ask questions, and you sure as Christmas don't share your opinions - they're not welcome.
Put your head down, get through it, and go back to your job.
I hate these people so much.

I didn’t have to take it. But my company isn’t insane, so it was reasonable and gave good perspective worth considering.

It’s no different than the shot mandates.
You will submit to your overlords or face consequences.
There is no “buy in” because a data based value case cannot be presented to win the argument.

Like most trainings I'm forced to take, I put the training video on, muted it, and went on with my work. When the video was over there was some ridiculous test I had to take that I only needed to score a 70 on to pass which was easy.

Damn 5 minutes? We had to do an hour and then there's a bunch of DEI slogans posted all over the job.

Ours was quite good. I work in STEM (I'll leave it at that), so we naturally have an issue attracting females and POC. The focus of the training was not to shame the current staff or force anyone to hire underqualified people for the sale of diversity, but to look for ways to get these groups interested in STEM from a young age, so that the next generation of leaders doesnt have to worry about DEI at all.

All new employees at a company where I worked in the early 2000’s were forced to take a 2 day course that focused on racial biases. The classes were led by the same consultant guy who was black and the classes were maybe 20-30 people.
They split us up into small groups and we did several activities. The one activity I remember is the guy put big writing pads on easels around the room with the headings White, Black, Hispanic, and Asian. Each team was told to write positive and negative attributes of each group, even if you had only heard other people voice those opinions. No one was comfortable writing the bad stuff but wrote 1 or 2 down because they were aware others felt that way. When we were done, the leader was very excited to tell us that whatever negative stuff you wrote down was because you believed it to be true, no matter how you became aware of it.
Lesson learned - grifters lie and mislead to get a buck.
Also, the guy kept referring to Asians as Orientals.

We don't do mandatory DEI training, but we had a "grass roots" DEI movement here. Humorously, me and one other based dude were invited to the meetings. Both of us have always been careful to not tip our hand to political leaning, thoughts on wokeism, etc. which no doubt had a part in us getting invited to the "DEI & Culture" meetings in the first place.
Most of the group were your typical moonbats. He and I mostly just listened for the first few weeks, even agreed to some of the BS being thrown about: misogyny in the workplace, not enough minorities in leadership positions, etc.
We spoke up when the group wanted to define what DEI meant to our company..
Diversity: Being a foreign-based company, we are probably the most diverse company in Oklahoma. Small majority white but lots of Asians, blacks & hispanics. It happens organically. And thankfully, we don't do diversity hires here.
Equity: We, like most companies, have equity baked into our policies and local laws. This is where the arguments began as we pointed out that 'equity' means equal opportunity, not equal outcomes. Some screeching and howling did occur during this discussion.
Inclusion: This is literally the only choice-based 'DEI' pillar. And we have a framework which allows employees to privately bring to HR complaints of exclusion; HR is then obliged to investigate.
The whole thing was so dumb because again, we are organically diverse and it doesn't matter what color your skin is or male/female, if you're good at what you do, you will get ahead. Once HR learned what was going on in these weekly meetings, they shut it down because it wasn't HR-sponsored in the first place.

DEI classes serve the same purpose as Sexual Harassment training and EO training.
They are designed to tell one group of people how they can manipulate shite to their advantage and they are designed to put everyone else into a state of fear.

Yep . . . you're not really given a choice.

Wrong.

had one of these several years ago that was live in a conference room; me, my direct VP, and the CFO sat there making fun of nearly everything they said. That obviously wouldn't fly now.
