This is the point. Iraq was BS, but at least they had to do a significant amount of lying to get us into it and got Congressional support.

Our own intelligence reports said they were not close. Even POTUS himself said we set them back years after Operation Midnight Hammer.
Are you calling POTUS a liar?
I addressed these incorrect talking points earlier in the thread.
Iran is (or at least was) capable of building nuclear weapons in a very short time frame
I'm sure the POTUS will send an apology letter for the misinformation you were given.

We have more and ours are actual professional troops as well as militias we have trained.
So?
The poster said Iran hadn't invaded any other countries. I stated that their militia are a defacto invasion of several countries. If you want to equate our foreign deployments to Iran's terrorist militia, that's your prerogative. I disagree, but even if were true it's unrelated to what I said.

Iraq was boots on the ground nation building that lasted over a decade.
It's ironic you justify Iraq, but a 2 month military operation that has already ended and NO boots on the ground is your bugaboo. Odd.

Some of these folks don't even research the talking points; just disseminate and repeat them with no thought required. The laughing emoji is the most important part of their supporting arguments.

My guess is that this version will now fail in Senate..
The problem here is that the War Powers Resolutions most likely would not withstand scrutiny by the Supreme Court, and the House and Senate know this. So they ping-pong this back and forth, allowing them to keep up the charade of control.
If, for some reason, they both approved the resolution, it would instantly be appealed to the SC with a high likelihood of losing their weapon for political theater, and more importantly, would lead to a major push by the executive branch to use this new recent precedent of overreach of the legislative branch as a framework for other cases.

Why?
Trump has been screwing around since the cease fire began. The gas prices are still high, the Straits of Hormuz are still closed.
You dick around, this is what happens.

If they'd done that back in Febuary, CNN's lead story would've been a leaked detailed strike plan for the entire engagement, including who, what and when targeting details. Until something changes, any real threat to US national security is amplified by threats from within.

So, just a bunch of media PR bullshite.
If that was all accurate, they'd have had nukes by now. We haven't been constantly attacking them since 1995.
It's a grift. Greater Israel is the goal.

So you're saying that you don't believe the IAEA reports?
And if Greater Israel is the goal, then why have we been in a ceasefire for weeks? Was the ceasefire Bibi's idea?
Wouldn't Bibi make his "puppet" keep laying the hammer down on Iran by continuing to bomb them if Greater Israel is the goal?

I knew we'd get some Israel shite with Trump, but I didn't expect this level. We double tap bombed a school for these people, among other things. frick them. Let them wage their own war.

They should have done it months ago then.
Doing it now just takes away our leverage and we would have to pull out, end blockade, and Iran would keep the strait closed and keep nuclear program. That would be the absolute worst thing to do

Waste of time and taxpayer money. Not worth the paper it is written on or the time it took debating. Good luck getting 2/3 vote to override the Presidential veto.

Appealed by whom, from what lower court case, and on what justiciable claim? A bill passing the House and Senate does not automatically create a Supreme Court case.
Are you saying the President would sue Congress? A service member would sue? A defense contractor? A member of Congress? And what exactly would the Court be reviewing, the War Powers Resolution generally, or this specific joint resolution?
Because if the resolution goes through both chambers and presentment, that removes the obvious Chadha problem. The constitutionally suspect part is Congress trying to bind the President without presentment, not Congress passing a law through the normal Article I process.
So what is the actual path you’re envisioning here?
Who sues, where do they sue, what is the injury, and what specific constitutional defect gets it to SCOTUS?
