Rental property does not always produce income, when all expenses are accounted for.
This is a true statement. But more often, the property doesn't produce any net cash flow after you subtract the mortgage payments. But the portion of the mortgage payment that goes towards principal can't be counted as an expense. So even with negative net cash flow due to the mortgage, they usually produce positive net income.

ethics and Paxton have never been in the same sentence
Posted on 9/5/26 at 12:48 pm to CoonassatTEXAS
Federal ethics laws is just another term to describe lawfare. As in interpretation of ethics laws is in the eye of the party held bent on destroying the opposition. In this case the mafia democrat party wants Donald Trump's head (and anyone near him) served on a silver platter.
Yawn.

As I said earlier, he is lazy.
I bet if you dissect his campaign organization, it is probably run by a bunch of amateurs as is Collins in Georgia

Dang. Well then who ran Cornyn’s campaign that lost to the one you just described there? Must’ve been pretty bad.

I got a text from him this week literally asking for $5 like he's my neighbor's kid asking to bum some cash, it felt so amateur hour. What a turkey.

Paxton Derangement Syndrome.
Posted on 9/5/26 at 1:14 pm to CoonassatTEXAS
Paxton is a crook plain and simple. If you like your tax dollars pocketed he’s your man.
The corruption was so incredibly bad his own staff turned him in.

The choice between a Democratic Socialist and someone who is not a Democrat Socialist is the easiest choice in the world for anyone with even a tiny modicum of general Republican sensibilities.
But I know that wont make people like you stop trying to continually poison the well.
Keep doing work, bro!

quote:Income or revenue? They aren’t the same. If he’s renting them for less than his expenses and depreciation, he may elk be collecting rent (revenue) abut not making a profit (income).
Paxton, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, reported owning seven homes but said he earned no income from any. Yet all but one was listed for rent during the reporting periods, and some current residents and neighbors at those addresses confirmed that the properties were rented,
This smells of a hit piece.
EDIT: just skimmed the article beyond the lede and it just get sillier. Texas Trumibune and ProPublicia

Owning 7 properties without profit on any of them would be worse

quote:Not necessarily. I've seen deals where the depreciation brings the income negative, but still has a positive cash flow. That's tax-free money. That's the problem with the "article". The authors don't have any actual details, just innuendo that seems specifically target toward people that don't understand basic accounting (which is damn near everyone

The other clues are the appeals to emotion. Notice how they say he "owns seven homes", not "seven properties". That's not an accident.
None of this is defense of Paxton, because I have no idea what he did or didn't do. Neither does the ProPropaganica author. The article doesn't help me understand... anything. It's just written to make people angry.

A resounding NO!
You apparently haven't seen the oft-aired commercial spot with Jimmy and his paw-paw touting Talarico Family Values -- he loves God, and he loves his neighbors. He will see to it that reasonably priced groceries, fuel, healthcare, education and owning a home are accessible goals for all Texans. What's insane about that?
