Major film studio considers moving to Texas amid legal fight with California

(1) would be hella expensive for them to move all their studio resources

(2) I can't imagine that CA would let them leave and will give them whatever they want to stay

(3) if Paramount did move, TX should prepare for a huge influx of leftists

They are bluffing & it’s a negotiation tactic. They are not moving. It’s an attempt to get California to get their crap together. That part won’t happen. The state is lost.

I can understand why they would want to leave California. The "Blue State Exodus" is real.

But like others have said, leave your woke political views behind. That's the #1 reason why you want to move in the first place.

Screw them. Let them keep their trash in California.

All studios should bail completely from CA. Not only will taxes be lower, the studios will get incentives to move to plenty of states.

CA AG says otherwise.

This makes sense. Otherwise you would just start with some smaller studios test the waters and build out from there.

Then, once you have enough built, you just shut the doors in CA.

Not sure about Texas, but there’s already infrastructure in Georgia and Tennessee. Most films are done outside of California already. The cost to film in California is already prohibitive (permits, labor, etc.), a studio isn’t going to lose as much as you think. If Paramount goes I could see other studios go as well. The only one that won’t is Disney.

Texas doesn’t need Paramount. Stay in California. You people made your own damn bed. Lay in it and leave ours the frick alone.

This is all a plan to turn Texas blue. They're doing it in GA, TN, and NC, too.

Not if they bring over all their idiot employees and contractors who voted for the dumb shite currently happening in CA. They’ll screw up the tax codes in TX and GA.

A lot of sound stages are just industrial buildings. They could truck or fly the equipment over without much issue. Yes they'd have to rebuild some sets and build a new headquarters building, but nothing too crazy. If you factor in the taxes they're paying now versus the tax credits and such they'd get in Texas, it's probably not that expensive of a move.

Where they'd probably run into issues is getting their actors and behind the camera people to move to Texas.

Here is the issue.....

Ticking Fees: Paramount faces mounting "ticking fees" (costing millions of dollars daily) owed to Warner Bros. Discovery shareholders due to merger delays caused by an antitrust lawsuit led by California Attorney General Rob Bonta.Bond

Demand: Paramount recently asked a federal court to force California and other opposing states to post a nearly $1.9 billion bond to cover these delayed transaction costs.

Liberal AG states say it will reduce competion.

Wait, so no one has a problem with Disney gobbling up everything and spreading their wokeness.

But Paramount wants more Landman material produced......and we cant have that.

reported 18,600 employees as of December 31, 2024, reflecting a decrease of about 3,300 employees (-15%) compared to the previous year according to SEC filings and company reports

That popped up on copilot, not as many as you think

Can you imagine that legendary studio lot sitting abandoned? Or the Warner Lot? Or Universal? I can’t wait for that billionaire tax to pass. That state may actually cause such an exodus, it eventually goes red.

Don't do it Texas. The film industry invading Georgia is what kicked off the massive blue shift in this state, then COVID finished the job with the influx of NY and California plates.
