It probably is driven more by what some people would term hypergamy. Not in the sense of hyper-marriage. But in hyper-mating habits.
Even more toxic, the number of young males having sex is declining. Meaning that there’s fewer potential fathers for more single mothers. A really bad cultural recipe.
