Underway replenishment (UR) during seas and conditions bad enough to blow a freaking aircraft overboard? No freaking way. UR is a dangerous activity and would not be done under anything other than ideal conditions during peacetime operations. Ships are tethered together and helicopters are bouncing back and forth carrying cargo. Cargo is also being pulled from the supply ship via lines and pulleys. I’ve witnessed countless URs and find it hard to believe one would be conducted if there was a hint of inclement weather.

What has transpired is extremely painful and personal to me.

I know it is for a lot of other Retirees/Vets as well.

For frick's sake. Slapping extra tie down chains onto aircraft is literally the first thing aircrew are going to do in heavy weather.

Unless you have been in 25ft+ seas on a ship then you don't understand. I have and no amount of gripes will secure shite.

bullshite. All my sea time is on carriers, we never lost a bird because some dipshit didn't secure aircraft for heavy weather.

Once in the head or twice in the chest. I’m not picky.

Maybe the jet was "accidentally" let go so the CCP military can come later to scoop it before to get the latest technology leading up their invasion of Taiwan later this year.

So you've never been on a Navy ship have you. A carrier was doing a replenishment at sea. Do you even know what that is and how dangerous it is just when the sea is calm? You're not pulling into port to get goods or fuel you're still underway, moving through the sea with another Navy ship across from you and lines going to and from each ship sending products or refueling. Doing this in heavy weather makes me question the Captain.

No way the plane was properly tied down.

Our Navy allows jets to identify as fish. Acceptable pronouns are Nemo, Snapper and Chum.

Definitely not the Navy I was part off. I remember the OOD on my sub putting his junk on my shoulder while sitting as Helmsman (keep in mind I was driving a nuclear sub) Not because he was gay but because it was funny.

What an awesome time and It’s what made us tough. The place I work at has an enormous amount of vets and we all agree the military has completely gone to shite.

How does "unexpected heavy weather" surprise a modern day nuclear-powered aircraft carrier equipped with the most powerful weather monitoring systems in the world?

The storm clouds coming in were black and angry. In today's woke military it would have been racist to avoid them.

Sounds like they did an emergency breakaway (drill or not) and somebody didn't secure the jet properly.

Way too late at that point to save it
