Ya, I saw the post about a deal and didn't even change my blood pressure.

I think Trump has become content just laying a modern day siege which is interesting in its own right. Don't think we've seen something like this in a long time.

We'll see I suppose.

Sending Witkoff and Kushner constantly to deal with Araghchi on the issues means nothing will ever get done. It's obvious that Araghchi either has no authority to negotiate any deal or, what is more likely is that he is the tool that the Islamic Republic is using to keep drawing this scene out further and further. Why Trump keeps putting up with the charade is beyond me. He obviously (hopefully) has something up his sleeve.

To be fair to Iran, that makes sense after we bombed them (deservedly so)

We aren't going to be "friends" until someone else is in charge there.

Because it prevents Iran from firing missiles and drones all day long at anything within reach.

The IRGC is never going to surrender they are just buying time in power.

Goal them: live
Goal us: destroy them without direct military intervention in the form of air strikes.

Think about it. We spent billions destroying the conventional military. That goal has been accomplished. But they can still shoot missiles.

So we can destroy them(missiles) as they dig them out and fire them or we can have a cease fire and do it without many expensive missiles.

Before "talks" even began — back when there were just rumors of negotiations — Iranian leadership publicly stated they did not want to deal with Witkoff and Kushner. That's how Vance got brought directly into the mess.

Hell, that all may even date back to June of last year prior to our obliteration of their nuclear capabilities.

Article doesn't mention Jack shite about why or situation around his leaving, of course. Not any mention of future planes either, just the usual he was a great fellow and performed great, Goodbye.

I doubt it will be announced but this is probably how it happened.

Definitely seems like the waiting for Iran to have money and resource issues, not able to pay for armies or militias etc. is the new current plan. All the stalling is on our part too.

My one hesitancy on that is we didn’t do enough to destroy their land routes during the bombing campaign. So was this a less planned shift in tactics based upon something else that didn’t happen?

That's exactly what caused all the hullabaloo last week. Everyone was talking about "nuclear this" and "dust that" when the "deal" that was being reported only mentioned nuclear in the sense that it would be discussed at a later date.

My take is Trump just wants to lower gas prices and put the war on ice until the midterms. I expect we will only know his real Iran plans after those.

I think it’s a balance.

How to achieve what we want to achieve but with some specific limits on consequences (us troop lives, oil price, attacks on regional partners) Maybe it works maybe it doesn’t.

Problem is, 60 more days of the SOH being closed and world oil inventories will be seriously depleted. This is when it's likely you'll see a huge price spike and a real chance that the 10 year note yields will start approaching 4.75%.
Just don't think time is going to be on our side much longer.
