I thought we had severely diminished their ability to launch missiles and drones. This is turning out to be a harder operation than we thought

Most of the opinions you read, even from the news, are wildly uninformed. Drones have drastically changed strategic and tactical considerations.

No doubt. This is the first conflict we have been in against an adversary that uses drones to this extent. Just seems like after seeing how these things have operated in Ukraine over the last 3+ years we would be better prepared to deal with them. This isn't based on the news (hardly watch it to be honest) but from actual videos of interceptors failing to hit these drones. We are still winning and will continue to win but it seems like we underestimated Iran's capabilities.

More likely that people have unrealistic expectations for war. A very low percentage of Iranian drones are getting through defenses. But war is still war. Nothing is perfect.
I’d bet that IRGC is much more dismayed at their success rate.

Iranians use pickup trucks to launch drones.
video of the Russians using the same technique...

That was about kicking the British parent company of BP out of Iran. Exxon and others took its place. The Shah would have not been deposed if he had ordered Iran's military to control commie protests in Tehran. Those protests were Russian backed. There had been a communist element especially among academia in Iran for decades. France had given shelter to the mullahs for decades. France and England flew them back in to take over the protests as nice guys.
So you’re saying Britain assisted in overthrowing the Shah as payback for punting BP, huh?

US officials might have discussed the move but they are not seriously planning on doing it. If they were seriously discussing doing it then we would not be discussing it on social media right now.
CNBC discussed this morning (they had a reporter there in 2016). It's a Catch 22. If the US seizes it, the IRGC would likely bomb it, and that cuts off the ability for Iran to raise money after a regime change. My guess is that if you see a seizure of Kharg Island, that means that the US/Israel have neutered the IRGC completely.

In case you didn't realize it. Britain is evil.

What's more important the launch platform or the ability to still launch it? They could launch it from the back of a camel, but it's still getting launched.

Good thing they stick out like a sore dick in the wind with launcher attached to the truck. Makes for easy targets for our drones.

The leader of the US Democratic Party says that Iran is destined to win this war and that the US war effort is doomed to failure, so, tens of millions of your fellow Americans are banking on that to be realized.
I think that Iran's Islamic Regime will at some point hunker down and await the Ground War Phase of the conflict. The Islamists can then use suicide bombs, dirty bombs, human shields and the like to try to inflict enough casualties on US/Israeli forces to make the Alliance quit the war and accept that the Islamic Regime cannot be toppled.
The Alliance's ground forces will no doubt get help from Iranian citizens and Kurds, too, but, the Islamic side will fight very dirty - more dirty than we can probably imagine.
Don't ignore the possibility that the Democrats and their supporters might be proved right in the end - they will be working hard to make sure it happens - that they are proved right.

Im in the boat of pleasantly surprised with how this has gone. We have been told every year for decades that war with Iran would be devastating, thousands of US casualties, destruction of regional cities etc. Instead the total number of dead outside of Iran (including civilians) is a couple dozen, and Iran's military has suffered thousands of casualties
Iran had one of the biggest missile and drone stockpiles on the planet. They were of course going to be firing them. It says a lot about how effective our military is when they are only firing as few as they have

It's starting to happen here at home.
