Ugh. I feel for her, but she should know that bailouts are only for large corporations.
Clearly, she took out private loans because there is a limit of Federal loan money per academic year. That was a huge mistake. I’ve only got Fed loans and my Pay-as-you-earn payment is a comfortable $350/mo.
She could have also used the forebearance period to pay some of that off at 0% or other debt like I did.
The whole system is corrupt.
She would have made better decisions if we had mandatory finance and money classes in schools…
…but the banks don’t want that.
Neither do the universities that have preyed on students and taken advantage of the Federal money printer.

Wish they had to pay them back today

The one and only thing I’ll agree with these type of people are “If we can bail corporations out of bad decisions and send billions in aid to Ukraine, why can’t they forgive our student loans?”
It’s a completely valid question

Guess she needs to turn off the cell phone or either get a cheaper plan. Turn off the cable and internet or get a cheaper plan. Move out of the apartment she is in and get a cheaper one. Maybe trade down on a car that costs less. Maybe quit eating out. Start buying what you need and not actually want. She voted for this shite. Time for these students to pay the fricking bills they created.

You took the loans Molly - voluntarily.
Pay them back or take the hit on your credit etc.

I agree in principal.I put money in the college fund religiously for 20 years But One major caveat- certain schools WERE undeniably predatory in which companies they steered their students to. . I’ve read annd heard the stories . They were LITERALLY lied to by the lenders. Look it up, it’s scandalous . And so many of these people who were lied to have paid back FAR more than the principal and still owe a lifetime of payments. So just stopping in to say it’s not as ideologically clear cut as we make it out to be on this board.

If have that many student loans there should be a Dr. next time to your name. Either that or have a lucrative STEM type degree. If you spent that much money to get a low paying job you overpaid.

Surely onlyfans or a sugar daddy can take care of that for her.

Probably $250k minimum on loan, probably more, so you can be an independent writer and live in one of the most expensive cities in the nation.

It is.
People always say oh there’s not enough money to wipe out student loans yet we’re at least 1/3 of the way into the cost given to Ukraine give or take a little bit
It’s the carrot they will always dangle out for the young people vote

the problem with student loan repayment is the money doesn’t solve anything.
the issue of the student loans for current and future students exist, so we just magically give this one group of students from the last 10 years special privilege at an insane cost to all taxpayers…and we solve nothing?
solve college affordability, fund trade schools, get the government out of student loans/cap the amount of debt students can take out, etc. THEN we can have this conversation
the current promise and argument from Dems is so fricking lazy
