I often think that hatred of the NYT from the Right is a bit excessive, but this fiasco is hilarious. The Times deserves every bit of it.

To be fair to the NYT, this was likely a secret trip that the feds weren't talking about. Still, telling them Pompeo was on an important mission should have been enough.

They were lacking information, so they made up the most unpleasant answer. That is frickery.
If you attend a company party and your wife is not with you, it is not “fair” for me to assume she is fricking the pool boy at that time. When it later comes out that she was visiting a sick niece at St. Jude’s- it is pretty sucky of me to say “ hey. Not my fault. I didn’t know where she was. “
