The author of the bill doubled down on it. I agree with the comments.

How do you enforce it is a very good question.

Newt is correct it is insane.

Do you not realize how insane you sound?

They guy she backs in Ukraine just did away with political parties that oppose him. You are so ignorant on this.

Jjdoc, you are better than that. Come on now! We had that exchange. Gingrich makes no mention of the central tenet: "compensation".

Again.. It's not compensation that's the issue.

As I pointed out, a person paid by ad dollars who criticizes a car does not fall under this.

It's a political bill. It covers politicians.

Ron should come out against this.

Registering with the government?

No, that is not a conservative value, I would expect this from the left

The fact that this republican thinks nothing of this and made a car video doubling down on it-- makes me so happy I left the republican party.

The bill was introduced in the Florida Senate on February 28 by GOP lawmaker Jason Brodeur. S.B. 1316 would require any blogger who writes about DeSantis — and is paid for their work — to register with the state ethics commission or the Florida Office of Legislative Services. They must do so within five days of their first post.

Bloggers would also be required to register with the state if they write anything about Florida's lieutenant governor, a cabinet officer, or any member of the Florida legislature, per the bill.

S.B. 1316 would mandate that bloggers submit monthly reports about their work if they write about elected officials, including how much payment they received for their articles, rounded to the nearest $10, and the name of the "individual or entity" who paid them.

Writers who do not file their reports on time should be fined $25 a day, the bill suggests. A blogger can be fined a maximum of $2,500, the bill reads.

The problem is defining “compensation”

Is Google ads compensation? Because if it is, your point is irrelevant. Almost all basic bloggers use some form of ad revenue.

I'm not ever going to avoid subjects.

Ever.

She backed a guy in Ukraine that is telling the people of the USA to send their kids to die or money.

Same guy outlawed political opponent parties.

Same guy jailed them.

YEAH.. That is who she backs. So the comment is 100% accurate

Under this proposed bill the answer is yes. In fact even Chicken would have to register Togerdroppings because he receives advertising revenue on this site. This is an idiotic bill being pushed through by DeSantis’s #1 leader in the legislature and big DeSantis 2024 backer.

Indeed.
So what if the concept is to unroof (or terminate) foreign money supporting domestic political bloggers?
What if the concept is to uproot sourcing through NGO's which at best are stretching the law in funding targeted political actions?

Again, there is clearly a broader context. BTW, if RDD is behind the move, that will come out as well, and he will need to defend it. But the discussion thus far, without greater context, has been silly.

I didn’t link this bill to anything. I’ve already said this bill isn’t necessary. I’d require a disclaimer at most if that at all.

They have to be compensated.

Still not a good idea, but that is a lot different than they idea that nerds at their laptops have to register just because they wrote a blog.
