re: Oahu in March - where to stay
Posted by MurphyGator on 12/20/25 at 11:26 pm to Shotgun Willie
If you want to stay on Waikiki Beach- Hilton Hawaiian Village, Sheraton next to the pink hotel, Mauna, Outrigger,
If you want a quieter trip with a peaceful beach, stay in Lanikai or nearby Kailua.
Or consider staying at the North Shore.

re: Have hotel/vacation rental prices in South Florida always been this expensive?

Captiva is nothing like Ft. Myers Beach. Captiva is small and easily walkable. I think you'd enjoy it if you are looking for a quiet "Old Florida" kind of trip. The beach usually has good shelling in the winter. Not as good as nearby Sanibel, but still good.
You can order groceries ahead of time from Jerry's grocery store in Sanibel and have them delivered to your house if you don't want to grocery shop. There is a small grocery store on Captiva called the Island Store.
There are a few good restaurants on Captiva. I do suggest doing one meal at Doc Ford's restaurant in Sanibel and ordering the Yucatan Shrimp dinner. That is what they are famous for.
I also suggest taking the Captive Cruises boat trip to Cabbage Key and having lunch there. It makes for a nice day.
There is a shell museum between Sanibel and Captiva. Captiva Library usually has an interesting display. Captiva Chapel has church services each Sunday. Its near the library.

OP- I like the places you listed. I also like Gallions. You might give it a try.

You need to be more concerned about Trump and Kushner being so buddy-buddy with the Saudis. Those are the people who financed the 9-11 attack. If Trump and Kushner aren't worried about the Saudis then there is zero reason to worry about the NYC mayor. Plus, Trump is a fan of the NYC mayor now after having met with him.

As someone who has lived in Texas since right after I graduated college in the 1990s, I can without hesitation tell you that Matthew McConaghey isn’t gay or trans enough to represent Texas on your list, That whole campus is filled with figs, cross dressers and butch lesbians.

It can also be said that Texas was given an easy schedule in back to back years and you frickers couldn’t even beat my Gators this year. Lol! We are the reason you guys missed the playoffs this year.

I mean it has been on live tv. Can't make that up.

People love to watch a program implode. Look at our ratings.

Nothing against Trump, but how can you say he looks good for his age with a straight face? He's obese, has terrible hair, and wears women's bronzer makeup. Praise him for what he's good at, but don't lie about him looking good. Gross.
I think the reason people keep taking about him aging quickly is because he keeps falling asleep in meetings.

re: Texas fans - I now understand why you pick on aTm fans

I don't think they are really Bama fans. Probably Texas alters. Bama fans have no reason to feel threatened by Aggies like Texas fans do.

You are way too obsessed with A&M to be a BAMA fan. Your posting style looks similar to a couple of the Longhorn trolls.

It doesn’t look like A&M fans are the ones starting those dumb posts about rankings. The OP is UGA Alum. I’ve been told that poster is actually a Texas fan who is trolling.

Damn! I never thought of that. I agree 100% that is what Landry is doing. Wasn't Woodward planning on running for governor?
re: Flau'jae Johnson quoted against Charlie Kirk statue on campus
Posted by MurphyGator on 10/30/25 at 2:55 am to Giantkiller
Its going on at campuses across the country. My oldest goes to A&M and said there has been a big push by the schools chapter of TPUSA to have a statue of Charlie on campus. They were also demanding the school admin to allow them to have some huge memorial service and concert type event at Kyle Field in October or November. That request was declined because of football season and concerns about the field getting messed up. The Turning Point people were pissed about being denied access to the stadium. But, Charlie had no connection to A&M or Texas. Stupid idea to build a statue of him on campus there.

re: Who will be more inclined to violence once benefits run out blacks or browns?
Posted by MurphyGator on 10/30/25 at 2:41 am to AUJACK
My white trash and holler families don't live nearby or have ever stepped foot in any of the places you listed. These are people who go to Wal Mart and a dollar store once a month. They've never even been to Target, Costco, or Sam's Club. Never had Amazon or door dash deliveries. Going to McDonald's is a special occasion for them. To them, McDonald's might as well be Galatoire's, Antoine"s, Commander's Palace, etc.

My grandparents both came from white trash families, but managed to escape that life when my grandpa joined the military. Grandpa joined the Air Force and remained for 30 years. But, grandpa's brothers and sister are still in the family land with their kids and grandkids and even some great grandkids. The old family house is still there and some relatives live there. The rest are in shacks and trailers.
My grandma came from a holler family with 11 brothers and sisters. Two of her brothers got out of the holler, but the rest lived in the holler their who live and had kids and grandkids who live there now. All live in single wide trailers, except for one who has a double wide.
I used to spend two weeks at each place every summer when I was growing up. I still go back to each one every summer for a reunion
So, I know how white trash and holler people think. I've been exposed to it since I was a kid.

re: Recent airport travelers, are TSA lines longer due to the shutdown?
Posted by MurphyGator on 10/29/25 at 10:22 pm to HoustonGumbeauxGuy
I travel 1-2 times a week for work. I don't think people are travelling as much this year as they were the last couple of years based on what I see in airports and hotels. So, that is a good thing for TSA/shutdown issues at airports.

I would do Paris if you are travelling with women.
